President Obama was effusive in his praise for the Special Relationship when he visited London recently, but his administration continues to slap Britain in the face over the highly sensitive Falklands issue.
Washington signed on to a draft declaration on the question of the Malvinas Islands passed by unanimous consent by the General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) at its meeting in San Salvador yesterday, an issue which had been heavily pushed by Argentina.
In doing so, the United States sided not only with Buenos Aires, but also with a number of anti-American regimes including Hugo Chavezs Venezuela and Daniel Ortegas Nicaragua.
The declaration calls for Argentina and Great Britain to enter into negotiations over the sovereignty of the Falklands, a position which London has long viewed as completely unacceptable.
It also comes in the wake of increasing aggression by the Kirchner regime in the past 18 months, including threats to blockade British shipping in the South Atlantic.

Treason
Seriously, what claim does Argentina have on the island other than it is relatively close?
The people are British. They want to stay that way. There is no claim.
And Barry, keep your nose out of it.
How much idiotic can this idiot-ridden administration and POTUS get?! Holy smokes, the sheer amount of idiocy being exhibited by this administration in just 2.5 years is moving beyond asinine. =.=
Glenn Beck said that Obama holds a deep hatred over Brittan's treatment of his family in Kenya.
BTW - When Mexico demands Texas be returned, what will dear leader do?
Well “Guvnah”, you limeys sure loved him in 2008.
Duh! That's pretty obvious. He'd give it back. Texans on the other hand will not go easily or quietly.
I'm surprised we haven't given Alaska back to Russia, or the Mid-West to France...
My bet would be, the Texans would keep it for themselves.
Entirely consistent with 0’s hatred of our ally Great Britain in its defense of people of British ancestry.
Is EVERYTHING in Zero’s world upside down?
Obama should worry about trying to right what he is doing wrong and forget about the Falklands.
But does England even posess the naval capability to fight a second Falklands war?
Sometimes reality is reality even if the Resident of the USA is a twit.
The Monroe Doctrine probably supports Obama’s position here, but then he’d better be prepared to get France out of French Guyana as well (which they won’t give up - they use it to launch rockets now).
I agree. Face 21st century reality GB. You have no business in the Falklands.
I doubt Obama even knows who Monroe was.
