An Internet comic featuring a blond Foreskin Man battling an evil Monster Mohel intent on circumcising a baby has angered local Jewish leaders who say it is anti-Semitic.
Matthew Hess, the man behind both the comic and a ballot measure to ban circumcision in San Francisco, says he knows the loaded imagery behind his campaign has ruffled a few feathers.
But that's kind of the point, he said.
"Any character who circumcises children is not going to be drawn favorably," he said. "I think what's being done to young boys right now is a serious crime. The fact that it has been done for thousands of years doesn't excuse it."
Hess and his associates have pushed a measure onto San Francisco's November ballot that would make circumcising anyone under 18 within city limits a misdemeanor punishable by a $1,000 fine, even if it's done for religious reasons.
While the proposed ban concerns many local Jewish and Muslim leaders - removing a baby's foreskin is a tenet of both faiths - they say it would never pass constitutional muster.
What really worries them is the way Jews are depicted in campaign materials designed to attract attention to the circumcision question.

I am not Jewish but I saw several pictures from the “comic book.” It was anti-Semetic. Period. I wasn’t offended so much as taken aback that something like that was even printed.
I just assume the author is an a**hat. (Author of the comic, not you, original poster.)
From what I saw on Glenn Beck, that “comic” should offend any rational human being with a single shred of decency, not just Jewish people.
Of course it’s perfectly in line with the morals and standards of old san fran.
That this is even coming up for a vote in SF shows you what a sick anti-Semitic city it is. Boycott San Francisco.
What do we know about this guy, Matthew Hess?
Any relation to the Matthew Hess who was charged with raping his 12-year-old daughter in 2009?

Since that happened in North Carolina, it seems unlikely. But maybe he is descended from Rudoph Hess? He seems to have the same sort of opinions.
I can’t seem to find anything on him, other than this story.
The artist is a very sick individual.

More likely an admirer of Julius Streicher, publisher of the notorious Nazi anti-Semitic rag Der Stuermer, hanged in 1946 the by Allies at Nuremberg.

i would say THIS qualifies as true “hate speech”, that libs love to use on anything that offends them.
...and, i’m not Jewish. but i had my son circumcised, after MUCH thought and research about cancer links, etc.
for that cartoonist to call ME a criminal... is slander.

yet they are the SAME people, who push the “second hand smoke” nonsense, and yet ignore the dozens of international studies since 1957 that show abortion is a leading CAUSE of breast cancer.
My high School Guidance Councillor was named Hess and looked like a cross between Adolph Hitler and Fred Flintstone.
Try publishing a comic book that portrays black men as slobbering fanged animals and see how far that gets.
If it depicted muslims like that it would be a hate crime.
