Could Bennett’s immigration amendment protect terrorists?

Could an amendment pushed by a former US senator actually protect terrorists?

The Center for Immigration Studies published the backgrounder, ‘The Mormon Church and Illegal Immigration.’ The backgrounder is written by Ronald W. Mortensen, a retired career US Foreign Service Officer and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The backgrounder cites an amendment “covertly” added to the US immigration act in 2005 by then US Senator Robert Bennett(R-Utah). Bennett lost his seat to Sen. Michael Lee (R) in the 2010 midterm election.

Bennett was a very influential senator, appointed to high leadership positions by Sen. Mitch McConnell(R-Kentucky). His voting record was generally viewed as conservative on immigration matters.

In 2005 the amendment Bennett added was, according to Mortensen, done for the benefit of the Mormon Church. Hindsight is always the catch-22 for legislation, and considering the data on jihad oriented mosques, the amendment warrants reconsideration.

The amendment reads: “Section 274(a)(1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(1) is amended by adding at the end the following: ‘(C) It is not violation of clauses (ii) or (iii) of subparagraph (A), or of clause (iv) of subparagraph (A) except where a person encourages or induces an alien to come to or enter the United States, for a religious denomination having a bona fide nonprofit, religious organization in the United States, or the agents or officers of such denomination or organization, to encourage, invite, call, allow, or enable an alien who is present in the United States to perform the vocation of a minister or missionary for the denomination or organization in the United States as a volunteer who is not compensated as an employee, notwithstanding the provision of room, board, travel, medical assistance, and other basic living expenses, provided the minister or missionary has been...

Probably, Utah has passed several pro-illegal bills itself the last year or so. Why they are fixed on encouraging illegals I just do not get.

Subjects are no longer citizens

It would come as no surprise to learn of similar ongoing efforts backed by various other organizations with like intentions to dismantle as many sheriffs departments as possible under the guise of consolidation.

In fact, a recent search of the PA State Planning Board revealed much interest in consolidation. That consolidation study was initiated by former governor Rendell's administration which was, along with the legislative majority, huge facilitators of the invasion.

End result does make US subjects, as you point out, or citizens in name only. How ironic.
