"He who warned uh the, the British that they werent gonna to be takin away our arms uh by ringin those bells and and um making sure as hes ridin his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that uh we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free."
I keep picturing Revere riding with one hand firing into the night sky, and one hand tirelessly ringing some little bells. lol
Yes - she fumbled it.
What it sounded to me like - was she studied up on the history books - but then struggled to get the words out.
I knew exactly what she was talking about - but she forgot - the media were just looking for dirt. For Obama - they would send us a picture of him eating ice cream.
it was not national news worthy - especially not given the media’s errors in reporting. We have a President who can’t string a prepared statement together without a teleprompter - looks like she was walkign and talking and doing soemthing else at the same time.
Cheap shot on multiple counts.
“Warned the British” I think is fine. The historical record seems to back that up. Some analysts seem to think that warning the British equates somehow to trying to help the British in some way. Revere was trying to avoid a battle, and telling the British that we’re ready to kick their ass, and that if they want to avoid losing a battle, going back to where they came from was the best way to go would help avoid that battle.
Her sentence structure seemed to have Revere himself “ringing those bells”, and sending “those warning shots”.
I’m not arguing the history of it. I’m saying the sentence didn’t make sense. I’m not saying it’s a big deal, but it’s not some brilliant Palin trap that she set for the MSM either.
And, I’ll admit that no other candidate gets the kind of detailed scrutiny that Palin does. Mostly because no one cares what Romney, Pawlenty and Huntsman have to say, and people just want those guys to go away.
