You are correct about not assigning to much deep significance to this. The CSA does seem to be enjoying a boomlet in Western Europe. Mostly from cultural conservative types who can't appear in uniforms or traditional costume for political reasons. In the last year ‘Confederate Veteran’ the SCV magazine ran a pretty lengthy article about a joint German-Polish ceremony rededicating the tomb of JEB Stuart's giant German pal Heros von Borke who was a Prussian officer who served in the Confederate cavalry for a couple years. The Von Borke estate was in the part of Germany assigned to Poland at Yalta and the chapel is a ruin and the tombs have been deliberately damaged. This group of well dressed Poles and Germans seemed as interested in invoking ‘German-Polish friendship’ (vs Russia perhaps) as in commemorating von Borke, although they made lengthy speeches about his sterling virtues and heroic persona also.
