I am beginning to think everyone is crazy. My kids read the books, (in their mid thirties) then gave them to me, they said they were good so I read them. A little simple I thought but certainly just teenage love stories. I didn’t see any Mormon stuff in them.
If you want you can find all kind of stuff in any literature that wasn’t meant to be there by the authors. I remember in high school one of my literature teachers telling us about all the thoughts of Hester Prynne, once I hollered out in class, “that is just plain stupid”. It was. The "Interpreters" were taken from Joseph after he allowed Martin Harris to carry away the 116 pages of Ms [manuscript] of the Book of Mormon as a punishment, but he was allowed to go on and translate by use of a "Seers stone" which he had, and which he placed in a hat into which he buried his face, stating to me and others that the original character appeared upon parchment and under it the translation in English."
"Martin Harris related an incident that occurred during the time that he wrote that portion of the translation of the Book of Mormon which he was favored to write direct from the mouth of the Prophet Joseph Smith. He said that the Prophet possessed a seer stone, by which he was enabled to translate as well as from the Urim and Thummim, and for convenience he then used the seer stone, Martin explained the translation as follows: By aid of the seer stone, sentences would appear and were read by the Prophet and written by Martin and when finished he would say 'Written,' and if correctly written that sentence would disappear and another appear in its place, but if not written correctly it remained until corrected, so that the translation was just as it was engraven on the plates, precisely in the language then used."

In 1879, Michael Morse, Emma Smith's brother-in-law, stated:"When Joseph was translating the Book of Mormon [I] had occasion more than once to go into his immediate presence, and saw him engaged at his work of translation. The mode of procedure consisted in Joseph's placing the Seer Stone in the crown of a hat, then putting his face into the hat, so as to entirely cover his face, resting his elbows upon his knees, and then dictating word after word, while the scribes Emma, John Whitmer, O. Cowdery, or some other wrote it down."

Joseph Smith's brother William also testified to the "face in the hat" version:"The manner in which this was done was by looking into the Urim and Thummim, which was placed in a hat to exclude the light, (the plates lying near by covered up), and reading off the translation, which appeared in the stone by the power of God"("A New Witness for Christ in America,"Francis W. Kirkham, 2:417.)

The girlchild in the book chose to become a vampire because she supposedly loved him enough that she did not want him to live an eternity of sadness without her. That is not religious dogma...that is romantic fiction. The fiction of vampire history has ALWAYS had vampires as immortal wayyyyy before the religion of Mormon even existed. And we as Christians KNOW that marriage is not recognized in the hereafter of God’s kingdom because Jesus said so. You either believe it, or you don’t. Mormons don’t. That is indeed religions mormon dogma. Mormons believe that being "sealed" in a mormon temple allows them to be married for eternity. From the OFFICIAL mormon church website:

We simply see this differently. I look at the world philosophically using my Christian faith as the filter (I too am Southern Baptist). My job as a Christian parent is to guard the minds and hearts of my children. Just as I wouldn’t introduce my children to anti-American, anti-capitalist ideas, I won’t introduce them to anti-Christian ideas either. I work hard to teach them the truths of Scripture and to set them on a path of righteousness. Why, in the name of empty entertainment, would I ever intentionally expose them to the ideas of cultists? There is plenty of wholesome entertainment out there that does not involve twisting God’s word, vampires, and the occult.
In Proverbs it says, “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.”
Proverbs also instructs, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
And then 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 says this:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
