Thirteen year old boy is symbol of Syrian revolution

A 13-year-old boy has become the new symbol of the grassroots Syrian Revolution that threatens the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Hamza al-Khatib disappeared after his arrest on April 29 after an anti-government protest in Dera'a, where the rebellion was ignited by the arrest by police of children spray-painting revolutionary graffiti from Tunisia.

Last Wednesday, however, the young boy reappeared, albeit no longer intact, and no longer alive.

[the article goes on to describe the conditions placed by the regime on the return of the boy's body, and explains that a youtube video of that return has been posted. Arutz Sheva decided not to post a link because it's too graphic. The article continues:]

Shocking images of his broken head, his bruised body covered with cigarette burns and bullet holes, and the fact that male genitalia was amputated led to the decision.

“There were a few bullets in his body used as a way to torture rather than kill him,” the founders of the Facebook page wrote.

Make me a bit suspiscious actually.

Why would they return a body in such condition?

They arent stupid enough to take anyone;s word that they would bury the body without looking at it and using it for their own purpose.

I don’t trust either side in this mess, I am not accusing abyone , but I really do not believe that they would return a body in ths condition to be used against them.

Perhaps they thought the body in this condition would be a warning, perhaps those who received it thought it could be used after a few alterations. I don’t know, but I don’t trust either side.

I’m of the same mind as you. I believe they would have buried the body or burned the body in a mass grave, not give it back. Even the Nazis and communist covered their crimes.

RE: Make me a bit suspiscious actually. Why would they return a body in such condition?

Why? Yes, it is a warning. That's why.

It's not a crime or anything bad in an Islamist (fundamental Islam, Sharia Law) Muslim country.

I've read that it's not unusual for the Islamic Republic of Iran to give students home leave after they were arrested for demonstrating and after long periods of severe torture . I've read that families do not even recognize them. That's the point of letting them spend time with their family; to wit, the message for all.

If it were a warning than they would have dropped the body in the street in front of the boy’s house. Instead they had the parents sign a form promising to bury the body immediately. Sounds suspicious to me.

Suspicious.. like maybe the government did not torture and murder the kid?

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought that you were disputing that the government did torture and murder the kid.

I am arguing that not only is the government guilty but the government wants every citizen in the country to know what will happen to them. That is the warning I was talking about.

They had the parents sign a form.. yes of course. Here in the U.S. parents might have to sign a ticket if the child was out after 10PM. It's simply the law.

That's something like the Maoist government made -- and the current Chi-Com government in Red China I believe makes -- the family pay for the bullets used to execute dissidents.

Because I'm here on FR which has been taken over by a bunch of reactionary idiots I must make this disclaimer:

I am pro Israel

Anti-muzzie

and I like Sara Palin.

So this is what I have to say. The article is from an Israel news site of which I know little and the only sources quoted here are the dead boys family. I would feel the same same suspicions if I read an article about a case of police brutality if it took place here in the U.S. and the only people quoted were the so called victim's family.

I can't help it as I am very cynical about everything.

One more thing, I believe Rachel Corrie was a useful idiot who was allowed to die by the hands of the activists so they could hold her up as a martyr. Hamas and the free Palestine movement needed a martyr and she offered herself up, albeit unknowingly.
