These photos from Lorraine American Cemetery in France, were taken by Lakeshark, who wrote, that "it's the largest WWII cemetary in France, and quite overwhelming to visit."

He asked me to post the photos for Memorial Day for everyone to remember our fallen, the ones who gave it all.

These are the identical things you see at the American military cemetery in Anzio, Italy, as well. As far as the eye can see, in every direction, rolling hills filled with crosses and stars of David. And a marble room carved with the thousands of names who perished unfound in those battles. All I could do was to cry.

All those boys who mostly never got to be parents, husbands, grandparents. I know we at home appreciate them. I’d like to hope that Europe does too.
