There are some better possibilities for names, but they could have done worse too. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a new Enterprise, which I believe is scheduled to be decommissioned when the Ford is completed. Or perhaps some of the more historical names, such as Yorktown, Wasp, Saratoga, etc would have been fine options as well.

Well at least it’s better than the USS Teddy Kennedy which would immediately sink while the captain went home to sleep off his drunkeness before informing Fleet Command...

That would be the Navy's latest garbage scow.

In all fairness, he did serve honorably in the Navy so like him or not...

At least it not named the TEDDY Kennedy. They're saving that name for a semi-amphibious vehicle.

the navy needs to name it’s next carrier after a female so the kennedy will have something to do.

I agree - I would like to see a move away from naming ships after politicians and bureaucrats.
Sadly, there will eventually be a ship named for O’Bozo too.
When that time comes, maybe they can build a floating bunkhouse for gays and name it the “USS Resident Obama”.
Larry Sinclair could do the christening.

JFK did more than serve honorably. He served heroically.

I did not know that we named and christened rowboats.

If CVN-80 isn't named Enterprise, heads should roll.

Next up: Escort Carrier CVE Marilyn Monroe.
To: Tatze
John F. Kennedy serviced Marilyn Monroe and Angie Dickinson too.
