Arguably, this Marine was not prepared to save himself. He did, however, save his family. These killers need to be hauled in front of a Military tribunal.

I concur on the Military tribunal approach. Police fail to realize that when they act like thugs, or trained paramilitary, (which they are not), they lose the respect of the law abiding population, while simultaneously demonstrating to hardened criminals that when confronted by an officer of the law, they need to immediately take them out by any means necessary. Note the number of cops killed this year alone.
