I KNOW that...but the DOD is responsible for evaluating for “fitness for duty” ongoing of the military and also for the immediate discharge from military duty. Recently they have taken extra time to “debrief”,evaluate and offer referrals to military leaving the military. Often this takes several weeks. Before, it was just a form”check here if you think you have combat trauma” and most troops just wanted to go home.

The DOD in the last few years has increasingly worked more closely with the VA to understand how to deal with combat injured troops and also to work with the Va to help the VA understand combat issues.
