I don't think it's so bad that people are talking about Judgment Day. It says in the Bible that no one knows when it will be- but that we should be prepared. At least people are thinking about it.

‘Thou’ rather than ‘thee’ is the correct form for the subject of a sentence in Victorian English.

Irony is that is probably some of the same folks who are all agog about Al Gore’s flooding-cities vision of globull warming, er make that climate change. They think about how fragile earthly existence is in that manner, but not in a spiritual manner.

No matter how you goof around with the metaphors or alleged metaphors, it’s still impossible for man to pin down the date.

Mat 24:36 ¶ But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Any man who claims to be able to name the date and time is a liar.

Jesus said so.

“He brought it out into the square for mocking, that’s all.

Try warning people seriously about the Judgement Day after this, Camping’s made it look like a big joke.”

That is the problem, He has “made it look like a big joke.”

At the same time, while he has made it harder to get a genuine hearing on the subject, which is real, fear of judgment does not genuinely save men. You cannot argue men to faith.

But he has brought REPROACH UPON CHRIST! – by his folly. His folly is every where: on the news, internet, around the world...etc. Which is why we are discussing it.

The: “big Joke” ...

One fears for the man, himself and his followers who have been lead astray by him.

Friend from the San Francisco bay area said a radio announcer cautioned that it wasn’t all ‘good natured joking’ since one young person committed suicide (believed the end of the world was nigh) and a woman had to move her children out of the home because she discovered her husband was planning to ‘harm’ the children on the appointed day - although what that could conceivable do for his ‘beliefs’ is beyond me. I don’t believe this lying ‘prophet’s’ actions were all that harmless...

God warned us about adding to or subtracting from the prophecy of Revelation. Somehow I don’t think he’ll see Camping’s scam as a public service.

No rapture for me thanks, I’m opting out - you guys go. I want to stay and fight with Isreal however I am able. We all die. If God can endure the pain, then so shall I.

I'm with you on this one. If someone has to do the fighting, it might as well be me. In fact, I would consider it an honor.

Isn't that the point of Camping's failure, though? Why should we be warning people about judgment day? Nobody knows when it will come, so there is no point in focusing on that. Let us focus on accepting God while we're alive. Then Judgment Day takes care of itself.

Lies from an anti-Christian radio host. No real Christian would commit suicide or kill their children just because the End was coming. Just more false propaganda to make Christians look like nutjobs.

Suffice it to say that such a day will exist, if only the day of one’s death. (Which will be the case for the vast majority of people who ever lived on earth.) The point being that accepting a saving relationship with God can’t wait indefinitely, since nobody knows what his dying day will be (quibbles about condemned prisoners aside).

...perhaps the mere fact that he brought the words JUDGMENT DAY out into the square of a godless public is a service of some kind[.]

All Camping did was put it out there in the public square to be mocked by those perceived to be believers and non-believers alike. Camping is a stooge, but there will always be a steady stream of weak-minded fools who continue to be led astray only to fill the coffers of his so-called "ministry".

Somewhere in the world, some atheist’s died at exactly on that day and hour.

I wonder what their last thoughts were.

True, he has

flagrantly taken the name of God in vain by claiming God revealed the rapture would occur on May 21,

and given occasion for the name of Christ to be blasphemed among the heathen,

and placed a stumbling block before the simple who heeded him,

and seduced them into loss of substantial amounts of time and money

and seriously impugned the integrity of the Bible and prophecy among the ignorant public by asserting it guaranteed his false prediction,

and has made a mockery of Biblical hermeneutics with his any-digit-will-do methodological madness,

while also teaching heresies such as that Jesus died twice,

and denying eternal torment,

and the nature of the church and its preservation,

and damning all who are in the visible church

while making those who agree with him to be the elite enlightened, etc.

Certainly we all have erred and dishonor the Lord by our sins and failings daily, for we which we must repent, but this man has impenitently, willfully and boldly gone to extremes few have gone to before, with his erroneous esoteric eschatology and egregious elitism and other falsities, and made disciples of the same (Camping’s cult), and effectively has served as an instrument of the devil who is the author of deception.
