Attitude plays a part, too. If a male teacher slept with a 16 or 17 year old student, her friends (male and female) would be disgusted and outraged.

When the reverse happens, too many of the male friends are giving slaps on the back and getting jealous.

Men who sleep with teenaged girls do real time in prison and are labeled as sex offenders for life. Women who do the same are given probation.
