All I'm doing here is looking at the names and tracking them down. Let's get started. Their own website states:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Report,_August_2008
On August 4, invitations went out for the Funders' Briefing to be held at the Sloan Foundation in New York on September 11, 2008. Current confirmed guests include representatives from the Ford, Hewlett, Surdna, Sunlight and Stanton Foundations, the Open Society Institute, and National Geographic. Attending the briefing from WMF will be Erik Möller, Sara Crouse, Rebecca Handler, Stu West and me.(Prepared by: Sue Gardner, Executive Director, Wikimedia Foundation)
Sue Gardner is the Executive Director of wikimedia. Moller is Deputy Director. Soros funded Wikimedia in 2008 as well as 2009 So just from fundraiser gatherings alone, everybody is all well acquainted with one another. This is a big indicator as to the culture that exists there
Melissa Hagemann
Melissa manages the Open Access Initiative within the Information Program of the Open Society Institute (OSI)/Soros foundations.
Unfortunately, not everybody is honestly listed like Hagemann is.
Mitch Kapor
Mitch Kapor is known equally for accomplishments including founding or co-founding the Lotus Development Corp., Electronic Frontier Foundation, Mitchell Kapor Founda.............
The Electronic Frontier Foundation is funded by Soros. In addition, Harvard's Berkman Center is also Soros funded. Kapor founded the EFF with friends of his from Berkman.
Mitch Kapor also sits on the board of the Soros Funded Sunlight Foundation.
Rebecca MacKinnon
At the Berkman Center, MacKinnon and her colleague Ethan Zuckerman co-founded Global Voices Online
What isn't listed about MacKinnon is what you can find right here. She is a Soros fellow.
As an aside note about MacKinnon, isn't it interesting that she worked for CNN?
Trevor Neilson
Neilson formed DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) with Bill Gates, Bono and George Soros, served as a founding board member, and stays involved as a member of DATA's policy board.
Neilson then became the Director of Public Affairs and Director of Special Projects at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the largest transparently operated charitable foundation in the world.
That second paragraph is intended as an aside note, because the Gates Foundation is known for funding ACORN
Ethan Zuckerman
Ethan is the co-founder of Global Voices (globalvoicesonline.org) along with fellow advisory board member Rebecca MacKinnon. He is a research fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, where his work focuses on technology in the developing world. Ethan also works with Open Society Institute's Information Program, along with Melissa Hagemann.
I find it interesting how so much of this all seems to come full circle. The names, the groups, the similar funding patterns. Regarding the next name, I didn't do any digging into past advisory members. I stumbled into this on accident via the other searches.
Peter Suber
Suber writes a blog called Open Access News
Right on the front of the Open Access' blog page, it says this: "Open Access News is supported by the Open Society Institute, the Scholarly Publi.............". (Scroll down to the bottom of the page, right hand side)
Jimmy Wales
Jimmy Wales is an Internet entrepreneur and wiki enthusiast, and founder of the Wikipedia project.
He was appointed a fellow of Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet and Society in mid-2005
Jimmy Wales attended Soros birthday party.
Wales also sits on the board of the Soros funded Sunlight Foundation.
Samuel Klein
Samuel studied Math and Physics at Harvard University, and is an Associate of Harvard's Berkman Center for the Internet and Society.
As noted above, both Berkman and Wikimedia are (or have been)funded by Soros.
Matt Halprin
Previous to Ning, Matt was Partner at Omidyar Network, the founder of eBay's philanthropic investment firm.
He has previously served on the boards of the Sunlight Foundation.......
That is, the Soros funded Sunlight Foundation.
Here is Soros.org chronicling it's endeavors into India, along with the Omidyar Network and Google. Progressive Google.
He gave a speech at Stanford's program for Liberation Technology, for large scale social change.
Isn't it interesting what you can find when you just look?
And this is primarily just by searching out their names. Not all information is available on the internet via search engines. I have very little doubt that the majority of the major players here at wikipedia have connections in one way or another to the progressive movement.
Note: As I went through the info above, I used italics to separate my own commentary.

Yes, I see all the connections and there are more. Look up Ellen S Miller, Charles Lewis, Freedom Forum, Newseum and Diversity Institute especially Freedom House. Bette Bao Lord, husband (track his pedigree), son etc. hey
I’m saving the few I have left on my profile page, the rest were destroyed when I crashed my computer. If I can be of any help please freepmail me.
I apologize that it’s not all in the right order but you’ll get the gist.
Why are you using Wikipedia in the title and Wikimedia in the article? Are they one in the same. I am confused about this.
Ah, Jimmy Wales, head of Wikipedia is on the Board of Wikipedia.
I know a woman who appears to be good friends with Mr. Wales. She is nothing but a cheat, liar and thief. If she is any example of who these people are run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.
Wikipedia banned me from editing political articles because I added true info about Obama
I use wikipedia in the headline because that’s what everybody knows.
Wikimedia is the parent organ of wikipedia.
=============Wikimedia is owned and operated by the Wikimedia Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to bringing free content to the world. The various Wikimedia projects are listed below:================
The first one listed is wikipedia.
Now it all makes sense, doesn’t it?
Thanks. I figured that out as I read further.
They have tactics right out of the gestapo. You would not believe how sick they can be.
The rich leftist millionaires and billionaires put their money where their mouths are. We on the center and right have nothing comparable going. We have essentially abandoned the field to the radical left and they took over every institution by default.
ping.
The Wikipedia Foundation is actually closely linked with the Occupy movement. I’ve identified several of these in a blogpost dated January 18, 2012 that I posted to my blog at bdell.ca
