Congressman Darrell Issa (R. CA) threatened Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives has threatened acting head Kenneth E. Melson with a contempt citation for his failure to comply with a Congressional subpoena. "Let me be clear ... we are not conducting a concurrent investigation with the Department of Justice, but rather an independent investigation of the Department of Justice specifically, of allegations that the reckless and inappropriate decisions of Department officials have created a serious public safety hazard." Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, in a letter yesterday to ATF Acting Director Kenneth E. Melson, threatened to bring contempt charges against him for refusing to produce documents subpoenaed by the committee last month. The subpoena was issued in response to ATF and DOJ officials stonewalled the "Project Gunwalker" investigation. "Efforts by the Department of Justice and ATF to stonewall the Committee in its investigation by erroneously, but matter-of-factly, citing an internal department policy as a preventative measure for denying access to documents have only enhanced suspicions that such officials have played a role in reckless decisions that have put lives at risk. The Committee continues to pursue this matter vigorously, in part, because concerned individuals have indicated they do not have confidence in the Department's ability to review the actions of its own top officials.

Jail the first one and the rest will spill their gutless inerts.
In other news, “A strongly worded objection was filed...”
Issa threatens? What, again for the umpteenth time? Issa, if you are going to shoot, don’t talk, shoot.
ATF knows it royally screwed the pooch otherwise they wouldn’t be ignoring subpoenas.
Who does the Congress send to enforce their will? In the past it used to be that the media over-sight would be enough, but now you need a actual enforcement body. Who’s going to enforce for the Congress. Obviously, nobody. Welccome to ancient Rome, towards the end.
About #$@$ Time!!!!!

Issa needs to just issue the contempt citation and somebody goes to jail for a few days. That should loosen things up a little.
