Who's on first?
When oh when will the GOP be led by someone with a half ounce of common sense and at least one testicle?
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
There have been a few other successes. They prevented James Cole from being Deputy Attorney General, though his involvement with AIG was also a role in his rejection. Also, they forced the withdraw of Robert Chatigny, a radical who was nominated for the Appeals Court in New England even though he tried to delay the execution of a particularly violent serial killer/sex predator.
I’d like to think that calls to Sen. Brown’s Boston office (including mine) may have had an influence! I didn’t waste my time on FL’s Bill Nelson!
This is wonderful news.....ALL the GOP Senators voted NO!
Ooops...Should have checked first....Not all GOP voted No.....Hatch was ‘present’ and Murkowski voted ‘Yes’.
I’ve very pleasently surprised.
Princess Lisa should go to hell. I wish she would switch parties so she could lose next time.
And I don’t know what’s up with Hatch’s “present” vote. Time to retire old man.
In a cloture vote, a “present” is as good as a NAY. I guess Hatch wanted to stop Liu and still be able to claim, when Democrats in the minority try to filibuster a GOP judicial nominee in 2013 and he’s Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, that “I’ve never voted to filibuster a judicial nominee.” Of course, that presupposes that Hatch (i) will be reelected next November and (ii) will become Chairman of Judiciary in 2013, the first of which is far from certain and the second of which is unlikely.
Good sign. Senators are reading the writing on the wall.
Hatch believes in being a rubber stamp for nominees. He was very helpful to Clinton in that respect, and he felt betrayed by the rats when Bush was elected.
I think that's dereliction of duty, a failure to uphold one’s oath. Unfortunately, he's far superior to a true RINO.
