The issue is far more convoluted than you imagine.
Several posters have noted that Newt's own proposal a number of years back that was similar to Ryan's was excoriated by everyone, so what you have is Newt ADDRESSING the Gregory talking point in terms of his own prior history being involved in the idea.
Without knowing of Newt's earlier work you only assume he's taking the part of the Leftwingtards.
Richard Nixon could have told you about some of the problems of fighting old battles 20 years later ~ even your friends will crucify you.
This is why we should judge our own peeps ONLY on the basis of what they have done in the past and what they've written. Judging any of them on the basis of an answer to a Leftwingtard talking point on a talking head show is ALWAYS A MISTAKE ~ that's how you people ended up with McCain!

Yes, after I posted, Newt was interview by Mike Gallegher, and was doing a credible job of clearing things up.
So it would have been better if Newt had kept his true feelings on the issue to himself and then fooled voters on election day?
Sorry. No dice. Newt knows that MTP's modus operandi is to play gotcha. The problem is NOT Stretch's question, but the fact that Newt actually did and does support the individual mandate, proven by his record and statements, which he admitted.
