White House: President Will Deliver Immigration Reform Speech (Tuesday in El Paso, TX)

EL PASO, Texas -- The White House confirmed Friday that President Barack Obama will deliver a speech on immigration reform when he visits El Paso on Tuesday.

El Paso Mayor John Cook told KFOX-14 that the president will likely give the speech at Chamizal National Park, though he said the White House has not made the final decision about location.

Immigration reform was a campaign promise Obama made as early as 2008.

"Unfortunately, I know myself, people from the National League of Cities, Municipal League, the Texas Border Coalition have all been somewhat disappointed that the federal government has not really addressed the issue [in a comprehensive way]," Cook told KFOX-14.

Ouisa Davis has practiced immigration law for more than 20 years. She told KFOX-14 she hopes next Tuesday's visit will be a turning point in immigration history.

The National Immigration Forum held a media briefing Friday in anticipation of next week's presidential visit.

Executive Director of the Forum Ali Noorani described the upcoming event in this way:

"It is a clarion call to Congress and to the country that we do need to fix our immigration system, and that comprehensive immigration reform is an absolute necessity."

"This is the place where the president needs to come to talk about immigration reform," Davis said of the Borderland. "Because we live it every day."

Such a nice wedge issue to ignore when the Dems held the majority and now exploitable for Obama's reelection bid and fundraising efforts.

Conservatives need to get RIGHT IN THE FACE of Democrats and use this issue against them.
Time for some TV ads. The country is not in the mood for this. We are broke.
Democrats want to take immigrant money and smear the GOP. Obama "cares".... about Obama.

May 6, 2011 - The White House announced the speech on its Twitter account, and invited the public "to share thoughts now, during, after." [excerpt] Obama failed to make progress on immigration reform when both chambers of Congress were controlled by Democrats, and the prospects of success now have been complicated with a Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

But in the past three weeks Obama has held meetings at the White House with political leaders, members of Congress, and Hispanic celebrities to push for debate on immigration reform.

April 24, 2011 - Obama denies blame on immigration reform [excerpt] President Obama sought to deflect any blame for stalled immigration reform away from the White House this week, telling supporters that if it fails it will be because congressional Republicans didn't want to address the problem.

White House press secretary Jay Carney says Obama is now trying to "re-energize and reinvigorate" the debate on comprehensive immigration reform, which could include proposals to increase security along the U.S.-Mexican border and provide a path to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants already living in the United States.

"We're going to keep on fighting for immigration reform because we can't have a nation that forgets its immigrant roots," Obama said at a recent fundraiser. "We can have a nation that is a nation of laws but also a nation of immigrants."... [end excerpt]

Fri, May 6, 2011 - Feds: All kids, legal or not, deserve K-12 education [excerpt] MIAMI — The U.S. Department of Education sent a letter to districts around the country Friday, reminding them that all students - legal or not - are entitled to a public education.

The letter comes amid reports that schools may be checking the immigration status of students trying to enroll, and reminds districts they are federally prohibited from barring elementary or secondary students on the basis of citizenship status.

"Moreover, districts may not request information with the purpose or result of denying access to public schools on the basis of race, color or national origin," said the letter, which was signed by officials from the department's Office of Civil Rights and the Department of Justice. [end excerpt]

deport the illegals, secure the border, and then we’ll talk about immigration reform. Anything less amounts to treason as far as I’m concerned.

Those poor American girls will be destroyed by all the illegals. So will our boys. What a piece of crap Obama is, nothing short of sociopathy.

And a open door invite to millions more, just like the last round of amnesty. They come, they squat, take jobs, refuse to assimilate, sneak some terrorists in, and wait for another limp wristed president to give in and grant amnesty.

All the while we taxpayers are paying for them to pop six kids...

Ain’t it grand?

Doesn’t it give you a “tingle up your leg” to watch a Marxist community organizer graduate to a national community organizer?

If he can generate enough hate against the white people, he just may be able to win the next time around.

After all, there are about 20-30 million illegals waiting to get to vote the next time around...if “The One” can swing the deal.

Americans need to get an earful about this.

They may have been willing to turn a blind eye up until now, but their shrinking budget and stretched tax-funded services will GRAB their attention now.

The GOP needs to get out in front of this!

Remember the story recently about the lady I think Ohio, was arrested for sending her child to a better school?

BamBamKennedy’s words sound like he is talking about his history as much as he is speaking about others future education.

I thoughtwe were already carrying out Obama’s immigration reform.

Just ignore them as they roam all over our country demanding their “rights”.
