President Obama to ramp up immigration fight
Politico ^ | 5/3/11 | Carrie Budoff Brown

President Barack Obama is ramping up his push to overhaul the country’s immigration system, launching a sustained personal campaign to pressure Congress into taking up the controversial issue that will rely in part on recruiting outside help.

“He is committed and will be leaning into this issue in a very serious and very vigorous way,” Melody Barnes, director of the Domestic Policy Council, said Tuesday at a briefing for a small group of reporters. “We are upping the intensity on this issue.”

Barnes and Cecilia Munoz, the White House director of intergovernmental affairs, detailed a strategy of pressuring Congress from the outside by deploying Cabinet members, senior staff and business, labor and groups to make the case. The administration took a similar approach ahead of a surprisingly close Senate vote late last year on the Dream Act, which would have provided a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children.

Caveat emptor: this is a Politico article...so it can basically be viewed as government propaganda.

Having said that, it is predictable that the traitor in the WH will use any perceived bump for political advantage.

I seem to recall any possible perception of his predecessor doing so (the perception, mind you, not the reality) was met by immediate and universal condemnation. Why am I not expecting the same about the current bozo.

Why wouldn't he exploit an advantage? He knows he is facing a bunch of wussies in the GOP, so this is just another opportunity to smack them down.

He’s going to try to get some republicans on record saying something perceived as anti Hispanic so he can use it in the campaign. It worked for Dusty Harry Reid.

Hispanic vote in 2012. Obama failed to do anything on CIR during the first two years when he had overwhelming control over Congress. Hispanics are furious. Obama must now make it a major issue in the runup to the elections painting the Reps as obstructionists and racists.

So much for a moment of country unity in getting OBL...now back to business....ramming socialism down America’s throat!

It would never pass in the House.

I sure hope Obama doesn’t ramp things up and start getting tougher. We already have a flooding problem out there and this could cause Boehner to add to it.

Nothing will happen but a bunch of dog and pony shows for Hispanics since the House will not pass any of his desired legislation on immigration.

Obummer is ramping up the illegal rope a dope argument to get their votes, nothing more nothing less, same as his out reach to blacks that do not like his sorry rear.

There is no doubt in my mind that something like the Dream Act could get passed in the Senate. The battle will be fought in the House. Hopefully, the Tea Party members and other conservative incumbents will stop it. I am not reassured when I hear recent statements from Ron Paul favoring some sort of amnesty for the “undocumented.”

“He is committed and will be leaning into this issue in a very serious and very vigorous way,”

So, SUING a state that is upholding a LAW isn't vigorous enough?

Every state is a border state now. When illegal immigration was confined to the Southwest most Americans did not care. Now the illegal aliens are killing people all over America. People know what is going on in their local communities. Amnesty will not pass the house of representatives.

Regardless of the level of “truth” to this, there is no time like the present to be contacting our Senators and Congressmen and making certain we have shared our feelings about illegals, amnesty, border security, etc. They must be hearing from us frequently so they are reminded of the depth of our feelings on these issues, as well as the connections possible to make between our economic woes and the presence of illegals sucking up jobs and resources.
