The increased premiums are mostly due to the mandates in Obamacare that are already be instituted. We loved our insurance company, best service ever, great doctors and no paperwork. It was so popular that it was rated the top in customer satisfaction in the country. Oh, and Group Health seems to have endorsed Obamacare, I’m glad we’re done with them.

But, the company dropped them last year because their premiums were simply unsustainable. We now have AETNA, which I have always hated, but we get the same coverage at half the price. So, your daughter’s company needs to do some shopping for another insurance company.

A lot of the people where she works are just looking for other jobs. It has really dampened morale. My daughter is only 24 and healthy, so I think $600 per month is ridiculous. She’d be better off saving/investing that amount and paying as she goes. For families, it isn’t so easy. And I worry about new doctors. If the profit is reduced to the point where it doesn’t make sense to even go to med school with loans to pay back, we really are in trouble. A lot of areas already have doctor shortages. I guess we’ll just import them.
