...and don’t forget the photo op....
When Katrina hit the federal response was suppose to have been horrible and Bush took a heavy political toll by the MSM.
Seeing as this storm hit an area of completely different demographic and political makeup, lets just see if Obama is held to the same scrutiny of response that Bush was.
Obama flying to Alabama
(insert obligatory Dumbo picture post here...)
Presidential campaign photo-op.
Count your silverware, Alabamians!
Yeah, and Obama never bothered to visit those affected by the floods in Middle Tennessee, either. Not sure if his trip tomorrow will include a stop in the Volunteer State, but a lot of folks still remember his actions after the flood. As I recall, he “didn’t want to get in the way” of rescue and recovery efforts. So what’s different this time? How many days until the next presidential election?
I wish presidents would refrain from doing this. While they want a photo op to look “caring”, instead it makes the president look like he has too much time on his hands. Which they don’t.
If I recall correctly, Obama to this day has not commented on the devastating floods which hit Nashville last year. Nor did he visit there.
The liberals hyperventilated about Bush not getting to New Orleans for days after Katrina, yet when one of their own is president, he is allowed to pick and choose his disasters which require presidential intervention.
presidential intervention??
Hasn’t the Obi intervened enough already? What’s happened to States taking responsibility for their own? We pay Governors and state assemblies enough, so they ought to be able to do something.
You mean Obama hates black people. After all, he allowed the tornadoes to happen.
Made plans in March to take family to Kiva Downs for 10 days in June. Decided to go to that area because so many of these folks are struggling so much. Didn’t realize they would have yet another disaster in the meantime. Willie Nelson is appearing at a throw down concert during that time. Maybe they will donate all their proceeds to help these poor people. Prayers up in the meantime. Wonder how many times the South will be able to rise up!
It is the “D*mned if he does, d*mned if he doesn't thing.”
It happens to every politician - GWB got hammered by the MSM for his “comparatively” slow response to 9/11, if you remember. Last time, he stayed home and got hammered for it. Not saying it isn't solely a photo op thing, it certainly seems like it from the coverage I have seen over here.
Personally I would expect the POTUS, no matter who it is, to be making sure emergency care and relief is being sent out well and in a timely manner by staying in the office and whipping the bureaucrats into doing their actual jobs.
Have several good friends who live in the path of destruction - four are still out of contact, so getting increasingly worried about them.
So, I'll withhold further commentary until afterwards.
ROFLMAO! Great job on the photoshop!
This Yankee is hoping the answer to your question is 'one more time than necessary'. Prayers for Alabama and the entire South.
I can assure you obamar’s poll ratings will go up.
How can you not agree with someone that says they’re saddened by such a tragedy? They will say he looks presidential and this will carry him through 2012.
Bill Clinton’s poll numbers sucked before the OKC bombing where he went out there and said, “I feel your pain.” Media will have a lovefest with hussein over this.
And, by the way, I love Alabama. I live in Alabama now and I spent 5 years at The University of Alabama. Too bad hussein is going to use this to get miles out of it.
Prayers for all those folks that have been through so much because of these tornados.
Not a coincidence that Tuscaloosa is 42.73% black...
A bit of irony is that because of this, he had to delay the Auburn football team visit to the White House.
