I don’t understand why the press doesn’t laugh at the “distraction” argument. What, people talking about a birth certificate somehow keeps Obama from doing his job? Moreso than playing Golf dozens of times a year?

How is it a “distraction”? Wasn’t having to write a proclamation for obscure muslim holidays more of a distraction than saying “no comment” to a question?

Exactly. If it is a distraction, just produce the document and stop the issue dead in its tracks. We all know that any such release, if the document exists, would raise more questions than it answers.

Obama's personal narrative is where he is most vulnerable. The GOP establishment are fools for not pursuing this and other issues related to Obama's personal story, associations, records, etc. McCain wanted no part of it. I fear that is the case for the vast majority of potential nominees now.
