At least seven deaths have been reported in connection with a series of tornadoes and severe weather that ripped through several states from Kentucky to Tennessee Monday, authorities said.
Forecasters expect more rain and storms today to slam across the Midwest, as the system moves east.
In Arkansas, three people were killed in rising floodwaters and two died in a town where a possible tornado barreled through Monday, according to the Associated Press.
In Vilonia, Ark., north of Little Rock, where a possible tornado killed two people....

We are just south of Hot Springs. The sky was an evil shade of green I had never seen before. Luckily, rain is all we got. A few small branches down.
Thankfully they all came out unharmed, but the homestead is a complete wipeout. S-i-l has gone there with his chainsaw to help cut the trees off the house. What the tornado didn’t blow away, the large trees in the yard crushed, except for the closet they hid in.
You had to have had at least one funnel go over or close to you, because Hot Springs had at least two, one that went north of the city and one that went south and came over us. We are east of Hot Springs. You likely dodged the same one as us. Hopefully both our luck holds out today.
Nearby Greenbrier (to Vilonia) had nearly 20 earthquakes on Sunday! Things sure sound bad down there. Be careful. I assume you have weather radio,etc.
My mom is in Hot Springs Village. She called me this morning on her cellphone (very rare event) to say she was okay but there was no power. Thought there might have been a twister near Jessieville but didn’t know for sure.

What I’ve been noticing is that these storms start in Texas, and are relatively benign as they go through the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, but once they reach Arkansas, they transform into monsters.

I’m very glad to hear your mom is ok from last night’s storms. She had several funnel clouds in her area last night and I’m trying to confirm how much damage and where it was located near Jessiville and HS Village. I hope she watches the weather because we were under a moderate risk of tornadoes yesterday. Today we are under a HIGH risk. Not good. These could be developing later at nightime than yesterday. That’s never good when folks are sleeping. Prayers for her safety.
I think it’s because there is an atmospheric low, a cold front, and a warm front all converging over Arkansas causing all the instability. The warm, moist air is coming from Texas and Louisiana and developing storms, but when it all comes together here, it’s pumping those storms up like on steroids. I’ve been through many a tornadic storms over the years here, but these storms are particularly strong and vicious wind, hail, and lightning-wise.

Point Cedar, tween Bismarck and Amity. I dont think either of the two you mentioned got ‘close’ to us. Man we dodged a big bullet with that second round. I was terrified all day and we managed to stay in the dry between the two evil systems. Just had about an hours worth of rain starting around 10:30pm - lost satellite for a bit. Many others werent so fortunate.
