I don’t see this as necessarily a bad situation.
We can chuck the United Nations off our shores, for starters, and the IMF after them. Hey, they won’t need our money anymore, now will they?
I do not support isolationism, but I know this nation can be energy independent.
I know we can feed ourselves and export any leftovers.
I know we have technological know-how. Hell, that’s why the Chinese are always stealing ideas from us!
Right now we need some time to get ourselves reorganized along Constitutional constructs.
We must bring our military home from policing the rest of the world. I’m sure you’ve all noticed the rest of the world really doesn’t appreciate our efforts.
Screw ‘em.
We can launch the Third Industrial Revolution without the rest of the world. Then laugh hysterically watching them all try to catch up from their failed experiment in ‘Globalism’.
Agreed. I hear the Europeans talk about "Austerity". If the Repub leadership grabs a hold of this term and redefine it for conservative purposes, this could be the political baseball bat that is needed to beat the Dems about the head:
Austerity measures are needed to save
the country...the poor...the government...minorities...Social Security...the environment...etc.
Without austerity measures...
our grandchildren will be yoked with our debt.
there will be no safety net
we cannot fight terrorists
cannot create jobs
etc.
Our obligation dictated by the Declaration of Independence is to throw out the government when it becomes intolerable. We have reached that point. We must disband our current federal government and all related agencies - shift all functions of government to the state level for a short period while a new federal government is formed and structured (adopting the Constitution as the guiding document). Then that government must request each needed function be ceded to it by every state - of course defense would be first. By tossing aside our current government, we will need to default on all foreign debt obligations and possibly restructure a new currency backed by a commodity.
We are past the point of no return.
