RF ready to offer Su-35 to Brazil with licensed production--view

13.04.2011, 05.35

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 13 (Itar-Tass) - Russia is ready to offer Su-35 aircraft to Brazil "with complete cycle of licensed production," Sergei Ladygin, head of the regional department of the Rosoboronexport enterprise has told Itar-Tass in an exclusive interview. He is leading a delegation of this state unitary export-oriented agency to the LAAD-2011 international exhibition of aviation and defence systems that opened here on Tuesday.

Ladygin pointed out, "Brazil has been for long evincing interest in Sukhoi-made aircraft". He recalled that about ten years ago "these Russian jetfighters as a matter of fact won a Brazilian tender" which, however, was subsequently cancelled by Brazilian authorities for purely internal reasons.

In 2008, the tender was re-announced but at that time the Russian aircraft were absent from the so-called short list. However, the Rosoboronexport official said, the last word in this respect has not been said. "We referred a number of official applications to the Brazilian side, including high-level ones, that if Russia is not allowed to participate in the given tender (or if the tender reopens for a third time), we shall offer an offset programme as wide as possible with maximum industrial participation of the Brazilian user," Ladygin said.

Venezuela has several of the earlier variants in their airforce, although I'm sure we'll never get an accurate assessment of their flight capability status.

I think at the very least, despite Brasil's charge to the left, that they at least try to "keep up with the Chavez's"...

I bet it is for Soros’ air force. Oh, does George Soros have any major business interests in Brazil? Silly me.
