“you look Oriental, but you no sound Oriental!”
Man I bet you get a few quizical looks when you look oriental and sound Floribama?
Once as a kid I was in a bakery in Green Harbor, Mass. and asked a black lady who worked there if I coud get a chocolate chip cookie. She said ceertainly in ones best Kennedy type accents. I being from W. Virginia was flabergasted as she didn’t sound as expected.
Love it when that kind of stuff happens.
It has happened to me, too.
I used to have a TV that was also my alarm clock.
One morning it went off on a Sunday morning and I laid in bed dozing while it played a local talk show where there was a guy from the local school board explaining tax rates and such stuff, with a deep Florida Alabama accent. I eventually got up and looked at the set and there was this Asian guy on and HE was the guy talking. I know the feeling of these people now when they hear me talk...............
