Many House Republicans were frustrated by the alcohol tax bill, which changed in the last few days - both in the amount and how the tax would be distributed. In the end, two separate bills were passed to raise the sales tax on alcohol from 6 percent to 9 percent starting July 1.
Vehicle titling: $50 to $100
Land recording fee: $20 to $40
Birth certificate: $12 to $24
Nursing home assessments: 4% to 5.5%
Create another Al Capone is what it will do........
"It's an outrage!"
And watch for rising liquor sales in neighboring states.
The alcohol tax goes into effect on July 1. Around that time many Marylanders will drive to nearby Delaware to buy their seasonal fireworks display, and while they’re at it, pick up lots of booze. Just like you said, this will create lots of Capones running liquor to avoid taxes. LOL.
They'll pick on booze for a while now, since they already have the tobacco taxes sky high.
I neither drink nor smoke but these taxes should be an affront to every conservative.
“It has been a Rat haven for generations, especially Baltimore.”
Unions and illegal immigrants were also big winners in this legislative session. Maryland is a lost cause.
wasn’t RAT supreme, Nancy Pelosi’s father mayor of Baltimore at one point? figures. RAT and nancy fit together perfectly
no need to worry. the voters over in oxon hills, md will still vote for them
Good news, for Northern Virginia liquor stores.

That bees in ‘PG’ county!
“Good news, for Northern Virginia liquor stores.”
Some Maryland liquor store owners are already despondent. This, along with an assortment of other tax hikes, are going to drive a lot of people out of state.
“wasnt RAT supreme, Nancy Pelosis father mayor of Baltimore at one point? figures. RAT and nancy fit together perfectly”
Yes, her father was mayor and a congressional rep. Nancy must be proud of her homestate for imposing these onerous taxes. Incidentally, Baltimore is a crime ridden city.
Cool! Think I’ll whip up a batch of white lightening. :)
I’m confused. Do I drink 1/2 as much the booze to save saxes. Or do I drink twice as much to make up the difference.
Man, this gin & tonic taste really good!!!
You are obviously a deep thinker. Darn few of us left.
Free beer tomorrow.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
