Palin said she "believed he was born in Hawaii."

BTW, there is an interesting aspect to Jack Cashill's new book, "Deconstructing Obama," who argues he was in fact born in Hawaii, but under much different circumstances than he or his story claims. Cashill interiewed acquaintances of the mother at the time and claims he was born on Maui so as to hide the fact that he was illegitimate.

Cashill is a good researcher, but that doesn't seem to warrant spending millions of dollars to cover up.

If I were asked whether or not I believe he was born in Hawaii, I would say:

I have no idea, and what does it matter what I believe? He either was or he wasn’t. He can very simply prove it.

I can see him spending 2 mil to keep this from being publicized. Factors: ego, shame

By the way, quite a leap by Palin, going from "it's a distraction" to "more power to him".
