Wouldn’t that be Woodrow Wilson, who also cursed us with direct election of Senators, the Federal Reserve system, and dragged us into WWI?

Last time the shut down was a paid holiday for govt workers. My wife was working for USN at the time and got off..and then got back pay for those days.

Good point. California could do the rest of the nation a service by demonstrating in real life what happens to States that are ruined by liberal policies. They could be a map for the rest of the nation of “what not to do.”

Actually I think the amendment process was started under either Taft or TR. But it was Wilson's administration that certified the amendment.
