My dad had the same policy and it was understood by the local police. I was once pulled in my hometown by a cop who saw me light a cigarette and thought I was smoking dope (the cop told me this). Upon seeing my license and seeing I wasn’t smoking pot, he told me, “if it was pot, I’d take you to your father’s house and watch him beat the tar out of you.” Good partnership between cops and parents.
