Slaying of border rancher still a mystery 1 year later
Arizona Daily Star ^ | March 22, 2011 | Brady McCombs

Posted on 03/27/2011 8:04:58 PM PDT by Tammy8

DOUGLAS - The murder of a prominent Cochise County rancher that triggered a nationwide outcry about border security remains unsolved a year later.

Investigators have identified a man who fits the description of the possible killer - a tall, cross-border smuggler with a violent criminal record. But they don't know for sure if he's in the U.S. or Mexico - or if he's dead or alive.

And even if they find him, it won't mean the crime is solved. Authorities haven't found the gun used to kill Robert Krentz on his ranch last March 27, and they have no witnesses, show investigation documents the Daily Star obtained through public records requests.

Alejandro Chavez-Vasquez is not an official suspect in Krentz's murder but is a "person of interest" in a series of Portal burglaries in early 2010, say Cochise County sheriff's officials.

Investigators believe there is a link between two of those burglaries and the murder, documents show. A search warrant affidavit filed in Cochise County Court on March 31, 2010, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement shows investigators believe the burglar who stole a Glock 26 handgun and two cellphones from a vehicle near the town of Portal the day before is the person who killed Krentz.

I searched and didn’t find this, hope it isn’t posted already. This is a fairly decent article, worth reading all of it.

Open borders = policy to destroy the U.S. of A. supported by BOTH of our political parties.

This is why we need a 3rd party or conservatives need to take over the Republican party. Might be too late at this point.

Douglas has always been a corridor to Agua Prieta

That said, violence in the area has skyrocketed with Political correctness.
and the drug cartels

What we need is free reign by citizens on the border to protect their interests.

Some rube in DC has no clue what they need on the border.

When I lived there, people were proactive.

That doesn’t mean shooting border crossers.

We were aware of the regional situation.
Border crossers moved through and they didnt mess with anyone.
They just moved through.
I kinda turned a blind eye, they turned a blind eye.

Now they are aggressive and look to our gov to protect them.
We get the short end of the stick.

FUBO

What do you think of troops on your land and razor fences/machinegun nests?

15 year ago I would have scoffed at the idea.

Now I am not so sure.

98% of FR would call for that extreme, but it’s your backyard.

I dont want troops and razor wire in my backyard.
I guess what I an saying is that the federal gov has no business regulating local matters

I have family in India

They cant get in.
The southern border is like a freeway now for ONE group of people due to La Raza’s influence and lobbying.

They have more rights than we do thanks to federal hand wringers who happen to be sympathizers..

I was just looking at a policy paper from the commissioner of CBP, and they are reorganizing the Tucson sector into a new type of command structure. They are also looking at creating some kind of reserve force for CBP.

Of course they are still spending money on UAS that the FAA won't let off very small tracks.

The biggest problem I see there is that the Tohono oldham nation has sovereignty over the corridor, and they use sovereignty to keep the local and federal authority’s out.

I cant prove it, but I think these Tohonos are taking blood money

At this point I want whatever it takes to shut down the illegal traffic from Mexico. The Mexican government has lost all control to the various cartels. It is the job of the federal government to secure our borders, the entire Southern border is not secure so it is not a local matter in my opinion. I do support local and state governments doing all they can to secure the border- especially since the feds have dropped the ball.

Backatchya!
This was in our morning paper this morning; the bit about the vehicle robberies wasn’t in ours, though.
