It is the ultimate Three Stooges comedy--Barak mOe bama, Hil larry Clinton and Curly Joe Biden--nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. The names have been slightly changed to protect the innocent. No one understands what is going on or the precise mission in Libya because the Commander In Chief himself does not have a clue.
As the Libyan demonstrations took hold against their tyrant Gadhafi whose forces responded by shooting civilians, President Obama spent the initial rebellious days of March 9th through 17th hosting a TV party to watch the Chicago Bulls defeat the Charlotte Bobcats, convening a conference on bullying, meeting the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, playing golf, speaking quite humorously at the annual Gridiron Dinner in Washington, writing an article for the Tucson Daily Star on gun control, attending a Democratic fundraiser, and in honor of St. Patrick's Day, telling the world that he is part Irish.
While President Sarkozy and the EU were planning their no fly zone strategy, President Obama was contemplating American involvement without considering the need to advise Congress, a point for which Senator Obama vehemently criticized then President Bush, calling him "a cowboy." After Secretary Clinton met with Mahmoud Jabril, the representative of rebel forces, she contacted the White House to advise the sense of urgency being expressed in Europe. All our fearless president could say was that "it was time for Colonel Qaddafi to leave," even giving this evil madman a sense of respect by using his falsified title.
The Arab League voted for a no fly zone, and then did not like the no fly zone. China and Russia first abstained at the UN and then disagreed with using any force against a madman who shoots innocent people. The UK said to kill Ghadafi, while Defense Secretary Gates said no. Well, who's on first?
And this obsession with "DEMOCRACY in the Arab/Muslim Middle East" is getting totally out of control. The president, the vice president and the secretary of state do not understand that our own United States was not set up to be a democracy. Our wise Founding Fathers understood very well the dangers of democracy, which is why they did not allow our nation to become one, and instead promoted liberty. Democracy is not the same thing. An Electoral College is not about democracy; nor is the US Senate where a state like Wyoming with 560,000 people has the exact same representation as California with 37 million people.
The elites at The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the liberal media do not have a clue as to what disaster democracy will bring to that part of the world. Take a look at Gaza, where they had free "democratic" elections. The people democratically elected Hamas--a terrorist organization, while Jimmy Carter gave it his "kosher" stamp of approval. This addiction for democracy will lead to chaos. Tell that to Tom Friedman of The New York Times who has literally had orgasms over the demonstrations for democracy by the youth of the Arab world, somehow believing that those countries could become just like Israel.
We were not set up to be a democracy and neither should the Arab Muslim nations. There must be many other institutions in place before the right to vote is given to the public. Khomeini and facial veils come with voting booths in that part of the world.
The Libyan mission is surreal because no one knows who is in charge. Is it the French or British; or Qatar who sent one measly airplane. What kind of coalition did we put together?
The only reason the no fly zone succeeded is because Khaddafi's air force was a rather pathetic joke. Let us not forget that Hillary Clinton met with Qadafi's son, Mutassim on April 21, 2009 and declared, "we deeply value the relationship between the US and Libya." This is the same Hillary Clinton who blamed that "vast right wing conspiracy" for her husband's zipper problems. This is the same administration who allowed the terrorist who placed the bomb on Pan Am Flight 103 to get out of jail in Scotland, while Libya celebrated his release. What is going on here? Amateur Hour at the White House continues.
And where is the Vice President, with all of his foreign policy expertise as Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. The first wise decision that President Obama has made. He sent VP Biden to spring training camp with The NY Yankees.
So how is this for an ending? President Obama is wrong. Quadafi should stay in power for the time being, because what will likely replace him would be much worse. Wait until our president sees what disaster will replace Mubarek, a friend whom he threw under the bus. Khaddaffi is desperate and will agree to anything, if he is made to sincerely understand that his destiny is death, along with his sons.
What about insisting on a peace treaty with Israel, including full diplomatic relations. The Ghaddafi men have no other choice. In addition, Libya must release Ali al Magrahi to United States custody for capital punishment, so that the victims and their families can get final closure. And finally, selling oil to the West for $25 a barrel. Muammar, you are plain out of options--otherwise oil may remain at $100 a barrel, while you and your sons will join Saddam and his boys with all of those virgins. Take your choice.
