If it’s seen in the widescreen aspect ratio in which it was filmed it is very much a great film with an expressionist use of screen space. It wasn’t trying to be realistic.

Perhaps your taste is more sophisticated than mine. :)

I recall some really overwrought scenes with James Dean, which simply embarrassed me. I confess I have also always thought that Natalie Wood couldn't "act her way out of a paper bag", so to speak.
