Biden: If Bill Nelson loses Senate race, Obama won't win Florida in 2012
By Shane D'Aprile - 03/23/11 04:31 PM ET

Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday that if Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) loses his reelection race next year, it means President Obama and the Democratic presidential ticket won't win the key battleground state, either.

Headlining a fundraiser for the Democratic senator in Florida Wednesday, the vice president said the success of the presidential ticket in 2012 is directly linked to Nelson, telling supporters "as goes Bill Nelson in Florida, so go Barack Obama and Joe Biden in Florida," according to a pool report.

Biden was in the state to attend two events for Nelson on Wednesday, the first of which was a $500 per plate lunch attended by an estimated 150 donors.

"He's a truly, truly decent guy who has the absolute respect of his colleagues, and I've heard that from both sides of the aisle," Biden said of his former Senate colleague.

The vice president's visit marks the second high-profile event to benefit Nelson already this year. The Democratic is a top GOP target in 2012.

Earlier this month, Obama headlined a joint fundraiser in Florida, benefiting both the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Nelson's 2012 campaign.

Bill Nelson wants drilling plans postponed
Politico ^ | 04/29/10 | JOSH GERSTEIN & JEANNE CUMMINGS

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill menacing Louisiana’s coast and beaches is now threatening to muck up the White House’s plans to expand offshore drilling along the East and West coasts, as President Barack Obama and his top advisers spoke with increasing alarm Thursday about the incident.

Aides warned that the oil slick could come ashore in Louisiana Friday and oil could continue to spew from the damaged well for as long as three months.

But Obama gave no immediate sign of agreeing to a request in a letter from Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) to halt all oil exploration off the U.S. coasts. Nelson also urged Obama to impose an immediate halt to any other test wells and exploratory activity in coastal waters until the federal investigation into the cause of the April 20 Deepwater Horizon explosion is complete. He said he was introducing legislation to temporarily prohibit the Interior Department from exercising its authority to expand drilling and suggested a congressional inquiry could be launched into whether the government made sure there were appropriate contingencies in place to prevent a major oil spill.

Sounds like an invitation to work overtime to defeat Bill Nelson in Florida then, and elect a conservative there. Goodbye, Nelson; farewell, Biden; good riddance, basketball-player-in-chief.

For people who don't live here, it's hard to comprehend how bad the real estate problem is. And, like most bad economic stories in the last 2-years, it's chronically under-reported nationally, if it's reported at all.

If you speak to people in the industry, most of them don't think it's going to get better anytime soon, or even that it has hit its bottom, at least here in FL. Maybe it's better in other states, I don't know.

Yes, 20-months is still a lifetime in political terms, but I don't see the real estate market rebounding in any substantive way by then, and therefor I don't see how Obama wins the state.

I've heard that 20% of all Florida houses are unoccupied. Dang.

Marco Rubio set the tone. Hacks are history. The people are fed up. Like Charlie Crist, the smarmy leftist Bill Nelson will soon be gone.

And then there is commercial real estate. Its common for strip malls to be 50% full and there are 3 major ones within about 3 miles that are empty.

But, but, the yahoos at Yahoo News claim that the economy is booming.

“Stocks rise after earnings continue to impress- AP
Stronger corporate earnings and signs of a stronger job market lifted stocks Thursday.”

If we did not have talk radio, we would have no honest media at all, and that includes Faux News.
America is crashing in every area, and the public does not care.

From your lips to God’s ears. I know I will do all I can here in South Florida to get rid of Nelson. I have always said he is a fox in a hen house. With his sneaky southern drawl. He is as liberal as Hussein. We need to throw his butt out.

Hacks are on notice. Jacksonville’s hack politicians were effectively shown the door this past Tuesday as Mike Hogan (R) (Tea Party endorsed) won the unitary primary by more than 10 points among six on the ballot. The Rinopublicans finished third and fourth with the two top going to the final on May 17th. Alvin Brown (D)finished second with about 24% of the vote. Al together, the Dem and Indy candidates only garnered about 28%.

The chosen candidate of the old, old guard (converted Dems to Rep) received 21% and the old guard candidate of the current RINO administration got about 16%.

Good things are happening in Northeast Florida.
