I see another Hama on the horizon.
Iranian plane seized in Turkey today with arms on board, inbound Syria.
Also, reports of Iranian Guard soldiers on the ground in Syria. Bodes ill for protestors...

Don't see the Assad family going down. They make the rulers in Saudi Arabia look like Quakers.

Meanwhile, Obama’s policy is engagement with this loathsome regime responsible for the murder of 100s if not thousands of American soldiers in Iraq for acting as a conduit for Al Qaeda foreign fighters who entered Iraq for 7 years to kill our boys. Obama put an ambassador back into Iraq and made it official policy to again engage this disgusting, vile regime. So I seriously doubt the freedom fighters there are going to get any support from Obumbles.

Look for Hezbollah to pour into Syria en masse if the regime starts to totter and if the Syrian military refuses to brutalize the people. You can bet Iran will send their thug Revolutionary Guard cockroaches in too.

So maybe we’re finally figuring out the algorithm the administration and media are using to determine which thug monsters in the middle east need to leave and which may be safely ignored: The more the Iranian Mullahs like you, the less likely you are to have Zero calling for your ouster.

The only exceptions are the Saudi’s and Bahrain and our dependence on their oil probably makes them exceptions.

Maybe...if Aassad runs out of bullets. A very unlikely scenario

Assad already has a very long neck but a rope could make it even longer.

I second the opinion that this revolt in Syria is probably the most important one happening in the ME, at this time.

If the Assad family were deposed or not, the military and security apparatus and the business elite attached to them are not giving up any significant power, privilege or wealth to the lower classes in Syria.

Every major industry and cash generation source in the country is controlled by men who control Assad. This has been built up over decades and now really three adult generations of Syrians have lived under this system.

No one, no sect, no organized opposition is going to change the ownership disparities in that society through street protests, nor even with an insurgent civil war.

However, if Iran formally invades the country, all bets are off.

Hillary Clinton has been quoted as saying that the US won’t intervene. Now why is Libya more important than Syria?
