Obama's Women Pushed War Against Libya
The Nation ^ | March 19, 2011 | Robert Dreyfuss

We’d like to think that women in power would somehow be less pro-war, but in the Obama administration at least it appears that the bellicosity is worst among Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, and Samantha Power. All three are liberal interventionists, and all three seem to believe that when the United States exercises military force it has some profound, moral, life-saving character to it. Far from it. Unless President Obama’s better instincts manage to reign in his warrior women – and happily, there’s a chance of that – the United States could find itself engaged in open war in Libya, and soon. The troika pushed Obama into accepting the demands of neoconservatives, such as the Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol, Joe Lieberman and John McCain, along with various other liberal interventionists outside the administration, such as John Kerry. The rode roughshod over the realists in the administration.

...remember the mobs of cheering Libyians that turned out to welcome home the Pan Am 103 bomber?....well, that’s who Obama’s women want to save....screw ‘em all I say....let Gadaffi’s loyal Muslims kill the rebel Libyian Muslims....or vice versa....I could care less...we intervened to help Muslims in the Balkans and where did that get us?

The idea that women in power would mean no war has always been contradicted by history. Boudicca, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, and several others disprove the myth.

I wonder if we'll see the Code Pink “No War for Oil” “Give Peace a Chance” folks protesting in the streets and comparing Obama to Hitler and claiming he is murdering children like they did with GWB? I'm not going to hold my breath...

When my son who is currently in Special Forces was in high school ROTC, they had an elite unit of about 10. I spoke with most of these boys and found out that their mothers were strong active people. In Spain bull fighting circles there is a Testing of the Cows to see which are the strongest and bravest before they select them for breeding. I always said it is the mother that makes the warrior, and now that women can get to the top, they can be the warrior. Remember Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, and Banizir Bhutto.

When the Nation starts making more sense than the current administration, something's wrong.

Now that's funny....

Imho, the US military should be used to protect and promote US interests. Period. A better course of action would be to arm both sides in Libya and let them kill each other. I also hope some stray bomb manages to completely annihilate the Lockerbie bomber.

I was just wondering if the wise move would be to help keep the pro Gaddafi forces from overwhelming the rebels while not stopping Gadaffi completely. Kind of create an equalized battlefield where they both just keep killing each other off.

Yet, now we are allied with Al Quaeda? Whe helped them against the Russians in Afghanistan, and they attacked us? Why do we think this time it will be different?

A caller to Rush yesterday made the observation - every foreign policy of Obama is aimed at suppressing or ousting anti Islamist forces and empowering Islamic radicals. Egypt, Libya, Iran, Israel..

A successful coup d’etat occurs usually when the president is out of the country.

Jamie Colby on Fox just referred to President Hillary Clinton.

It would be better than what we’ve got. Rush had the right advice for voting strategy in the democrat presidential primaries. Japan is in nuclear meltdown, Europe is working with Arabs in concerted action against Libya, the middle east is falling apart in Yemen, Syria and Bahrain, Egypt in disarray, with Muslim brotherhood taking over, and Obowma is partying on with the commies in Rio.

So who’s in the new “coalition of the willing”? So far, it looks like it’s the United States, the British, the French, and that bastion of democracy, the United Arab Emirates.

Well, unlike Nation's favorite bastions of democracy - Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, West Bank and Gaza, Iran...

Liberals seem to be that way. Peace activists will resort to bloody violence to force their anti-war sentiments on you and even to get the U.S. to go to war on it. But they tire of it quickly and soon they are protesting the very war they encouraged. Vietnam, anyone?

No, they are positioning this so if it doesn’t go well, they can blame it on Hillary. They screwed her over to get Obama the nomination and they will screw her again on her way out.

Didn’t she say the other day that it was time for a woman to be President? And then she said that it wouldn’t be her.

Author Robert Dreyfuss is full of spin and feces though:
Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, and Samantha Power... liberal interventionists... pushed Obama into accepting the demands of neoconservatives, such as the Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol, Joe Lieberman and John McCain, along with various other liberal interventionists outside the administration, such as John Kerry. The rode roughshod over the realists in the administration.
That's just total bullsh** -- the so-called neocon demands had NOTHING to do with any of this -- those three bitches wanted this because they wanted it. Does anyone actually expect us to believe that they'd push for the demands of Bill Kristol, Joementum, and John McCain, or even Lurch? Pulllease. Partisan media shills make me sick. Or more accurately, make me want to kick them into a live wood chipper.

“A caller to Rush yesterday made the observation - every foreign policy of Obama is aimed at suppressing or ousting anti Islamist forces and empowering Islamic radicals. Egypt, Libya, Iran, Israel..”

Bluntly, anyone who thinks coddling Libya and Iran is practical, much less sensible, has lost his freaking mind. And Obama hasn’t spoken up about these issues until forced to, leaving our foreign policy very muddled. He’s continued to show his characteristic cowardice and incompetence - not taking a stand on an issue until its conclusion is already inevitable.

However, we’ve made it our policy to remove middle eastern dictators for 10 years now, so it would become difficult to justify abandoning the principle at this point.

And I’ll be happy to see Gadaffi go. To an extent, I’m glad Obama has dragged his feet - it makes it more difficult for the usual suspects to say America was behind this (although I’m sure they will anyway).

I heard an interesting argument that Europe is able to invest a much higher percent of it’s GDP in social programs because we are their military back-up. We need to pressure them into carrying more of their own military burden, foot dragging helps promote this outcome. Obama is now speaking from Brazil announcing our launch of Tomahawk Missiles. He repeats we have no plans to put in ground troops. It was smart to get a unanimous vote from the Arab league.

There are 30 surface to air missile sites to take out, near Tripoli and Misrata and others. Will not take out sites near Benghazi. Saw elsewhere that Italy was now flying in addition to the French. Stationary sites will be easy to take out, the mobile ones will be the problem. Now Q’s govt. is begging UN to come and fact check. Divide and stir things up.

Anyway, in any case the caller was spot-on.
