NFL owners' treatment of players compared to 'modern-day slavery'

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson compared NFL owners' treatment of players to "modern-day slavery," according to an online interview published Tuesday by Yahoo! Sports.

Yahoo's Doug Farrar, who conducted the interview Friday with Peterson, removed that comment from the story later Tuesday, explaining on Twitter that he wants to give Peterson the chance to provide context.

Peterson, who is known to be thoughtful when speaking with the local media in Minnesota, is in Africa with other NFL players on a goodwill trip and unavailable for immediate comment.

I'm crying crocodile tears over the conditions these poor oppressed victims of NFL team-owners greed are forced to tolerate. I wonder if they could afford slave quarters like this(Reggie Bush's Crib)if they were forced to survive using their BS Degrees in the Physiology of Exercise - full "scholarship".

I can’t recall the $50 million contracts the slaves got. Could someone refresh my memory?

So, they’re kidnapped by Arabs, crammed in the leaky hold of a ship, and then all the fruits of their labors go to someone else?
Get another job.

Hmmmmm, I wonder if ol' Dougie would have done the same edit job for a comment by an owner saying something equally absurd??? Just sayin'.

If the season doesn't start this year, then they will be slaves. At Mickie D's, Burger Kang, KFC.
They will have to memorize this: "Want Fries With That?"

It would be highly offensive to say what Peterson said at any time...but with the employment/economic situation as it is right now, his statement is really ridiculous

The longer this goes on, the dumber the statements will become.

Already over-rated and over-paid and probably never to match his best year to date. A nitwit, too, but who’d a thunk otherwise.

Obviously no sense of history.

The NFL owners are treating the players the same way carpetbaggers treated the black minstrels. (Which is what I’ve always likened pro-sports to...)

What a bunch of over priveleged, under achieving a-holes the players are! Lock them out and bus in the replacement players. Who cares? The players need to take stock of their situation. If the NFL closed up shop today the owners could just go back to doing whatever it was that made them rich enough to buy a team in the first place. Most of the players, on the other hand, would be lucky to get hired as construction laborers. Not a real big demand these days for illiterate under achievers.
