There has been a state income tax in NJ for as long as I can remember; I don’t know when it went into effect. Florida’s lack of a state income tax is a main reason why many people (military personnel, professional athletes, even Rush Limbaugh) “officially” live in Florida. Rush got into a spat with the governor of NY, who said we didn’t need him up here; he now broadcasts from Florida, and took those millions in NYC and NY State income taxes with him (yes, NYC has an income tax - and they did need him).
As I understand it only part of Florida is impacted by hurricanes.
That has gotten so old. The reason Florida has gotten that reputation is because of former NEW YORKERS....
It’s still corporate welfare.
And I'm quite sure that they'll never draw that many fans to the new stadium. Close to half the crowd I usually sat with (section 452, upstairs behind the plate right on the railing, best seats in the house) was from central and western Broward. They are not going to spend 50-70 minutes each way going to the ball park 4-5 nights a week.
It would have made far more sense to build the stadium out on I-75 where it would have been easy to get to from anywhere.

Thank God.
That's what he meant.
Just his name sickens me. An ex New Yorker
Yep. I lived in Florida for 14 years. Not a bad place except for the transplanted New Yorkers stinking up the place. Thankfully there aren’t enough of them to turn the place into Queens-on-the-St.-Johns.
You have GOT to be a writer.
That was well written!
Getting rid of a RINO is as important and satisfying as unhorsing a demrat. This is a win-win for Tea Party conservatives.
Amish New Yorkers?
that was said of clinton also.
we have a weak GOP line up. we have huskster collecting emails and phone numbers via his “voice petition” obamacare scam. The MSM is going to foist a bob dole or mccain on us via an open primary.
I was gonna apologize after being informed by someone I trust that frantzie is a bit of a rabble rouser his-herself but I see you live to flame given your last half dozen posts here.
but..that last was witty on Yankees fan....I’ll give you that.
but you gotta be a yankee yourself...sweet irony no?
It is not just New Yorkers...where I live everyone is from Romneyville...
On your Profile you fly the Flag of New York!
We will keep Senator Marco Rubio where WE want him. Unless he runs for POTUS!!!
You, maybe, should pay more attention to New York’s Slimy politics and Slimy Politicians. We got rid of Crist and soon will boot Bill Nelson. Maybe you should oust a few Charlie Rangels.
You might also try to replace that midget Bloomberg and keep him out of other state’s business; ie, GUNS!
Have a nice day, Yank.
“former NEW YORKERS” and MASSHOLES too.
Well, certainly, at least to some very limited extent, it is. I would have preferred that Loria (and his co-owners) pay for the whole thing. As it turns out, they will actually retire about $150 million of the debt via rent. About 1/3rd. Not an insignificant portion.
But, they won't be paying for the whole thing. They should be, but they're not. So, what?
It was done according to the laws in existence and with the acquiescence of the elected politicians.
Much as I'd like to impose my personal or Norman Braman's preferences, I can't do that. If the people of Miami-Dade think it was a bad deal, they have only themselves to blame, they elected those who agreed to it. So it goes.
it is likely that the joint will be completely sold out for the entire 2012 season
So, we'll have to wait and see if they are able to make Bosox or Cubs style sellout numbers.
What have the Marlins management said lately about the team? Are they still promising that a new stadium will mean they can maintain a competitive payroll?
Remember that Pittsburgh and Cleveland and Milwaukee were promised the same thing.
Please respond without a chip on your shoulder if possible, I have not taken any shots at you in this thread.
Take a lesson Gov. MoonBeam.... or are his Kookifornicata constituents so leftist over the edge it doesn’t matter how much Ca. taxes get raised.
Are you really as ignorant as you appear to be?
2012 ticket sales are what they are. On fire. As opposed to your blathering that “I’m quite sure that they’ll never draw that many fans to the new stadium” delusion, which is based on precisely nothing.
2012 will be sold out. I’ve already stated what I think will happen thereafter. The Marlins will be a middle-of-the-MLB-range payroll team.
What “Pittsburgh and Cleveland and Milwaukee” were “told” by whoever is of zero significance. It’s also not my problem that you’re stuck in some sort of football stadium time-warp.
You need to check your morning cornflakes FRiend. Make sure what got poured in there is, in fact, milk.
That’s it? You have no further defense of your off-the-wall conjecture that Im quite sure that theyll never draw that many fans to the new stadium?
Why am I not surprised.
I tell Ileana off via fax, phone calls and letters on a regular basis.
lol..you remind me of no pardons

You don’t get it.
I couldn’t care less about replies, I make my points and that’s that. My query was rhetorical. Too bad that you have nothing better to support your conjecture than a lame ad hominem.
Beyond that, I have no particular interest in being “civil” as you call it, I’d rather that morons who don’t have any idea what they’re talking think twice before they post their drivel lest they be made to look like an idiot.
