Why is it that despite the Republicans' resounding electoral victory in 2010 based on their promises for real change, many of us have a queasy feeling they're not quite measuring up to the task, even in the climate of Democratic infighting and President Obama's weaknesses?
The Hill reports that there is developing dissension between Obama and Senate Democrats, whose respective "political fortunes ... are moving in opposite directions, complicating their efforts to win a titanic battle against Republicans over federal spending."
Obama is trying to stay above the fray and letting Democratic legislators twist in the wind of conflict with GOP congressmen over a possible government shutdown. His plan is to ride in just in time to take credit for the ultimate resolution and be seen as "a bipartisan problem solver."
Meanwhile, many Senate Democrats believed to be vulnerable in 2012 defected from their party's proposal to cut spending. But hardly any Democrats, including the defectors, can be regarded as serious in their approach to the debt crisis now plaguing this country.

Will a Republican with a brain please step up?
The GOP has some deciding to do. If its top priority remains its own self perpetuation, then it's party politics as usually and history will certainly repeat itself.
But this time maybe the Tea Party will emerge as a viable "non-party" alternative.
uhbummer is the friggin fray, massive cutting now or tea party later..
Somebody has the GOP’s ‘nads in a lock box, or perhaps they got lost somewhere along the way.
Alan West and Marco Rubio have nads, and they are not in a box!

I'm 98% convinced that the (R) party is in for itself & not their constituents. They have no true ideology. However, I will say that the grassroots is moving in the right direction but it takes some time to off the good ole boy group..
Will all Representatives in Congress, Senators, and members of the Executive branch ever learn, that there are some of us, and I am one of them, that could care less if they wear a suit and tie from Brooks Brothers, or the Mens Wearhouse. We couldn’t care less if the get invited to the right party, or are talked nicely about on the Sunday shows. We don’t even care if they get re-elected or get a decent salary. ALL we want is for them to act like they want to do the “peoples” business, then go home. ANYTHING else means that they are enamored with power, and are only concerned with longevity, not brilliance. They are like the NFL running back that avoids contact, never goes for the extra yard, because he wants a long career. They forget that the best are often exceedingly brilliant, bloodied and hammered, but rise on the final plays to glory. They would rather make sure that power is perpetuated eternally. If they were #37 on the local team, they would be benched, and told to HIT THAT HOLE like it was the last yard between you and a pile of Coc.....well you know what I mean.
