Mayor equates Tea Party protest to Tucson tragedy.

Actually I’m paraphrasing. Here’s the original sentence:

Scruggs said that because the word "protest" was used, she reported the situation to the Police Department.

“Scruggs” is Mayor Elaine Scruggs of Glendale, AZ.  The word “protest” was in an email from a local Tea Party activist, Annette McHugh. The Tea Party opposes plans for a taxpayer-subsidized $197 million stadium deal.  But that mundane issue quickly turned into something else:

[McHugh] emotionally told members that the mayor confronted them with an e-mail McHugh had sent to party members. The e-mail said the group might protest at Scruggs' community town hall Tuesday, although she later said they would not.

“When we attend the Community Town Hall on March 15th, we will either be protesting her decision to go through with the Phoenix Coyote full-of-hockey deal outside the venue, or we will be inside the venue applauding if she has decided to stop the transaction,” McHugh said in the March 5 e-mail.

McHugh said the mayor on Wednesday "brought up the Tucson (shooting) incident because I said protest in the e-mail...She gave me the impression that we were radical nuts."

McHugh added: “She [Scruggs] was very defensive and didn't let us talk for the first 20 minutes. She kept looking at me and saying, 'Protest. You know what happened in Tucson? How many people were killed?'”

And then the Mayor called the cops.

Tea Party = Giffords shooting = protest = terrorist threat.  That’s how an elected official views her own citizens.  A pol like Scruggs would never, for example, treat a Muslim group this way.

How offensive, how intolerant and—the big “how”—how utterly stupid. Everyone knows by now that Jared Loughner had no connections to the Tea Party; was a big fan of Communism and Mein Kampf; and had a Satanist altar in his back yard at the time of the shooting. He was also (surprise!) insane.

Linking him to the Tea Party is a lie. Worse, all these folks did was use the word “protest.”  Has a Tea Party protest ever been as violent, destructive or criminal as the protests we’re seeing from government unions and the Left in Wisconsin?  But if Scott Walker called in the cops merely because of an email with the word “protest” in it (as opposed to the emails from liberals with actual death threats in them)—he would be denounced for his jackboot tactics.

Violent liberals are ignored, and peaceful Tea Partiers are smeared. It’s not new (I have an entire chapter on it in my book) but it’s still outrageous.

So Scruggs is meaning to say that it’s OK if liberals protest, say, in Wisconsin against a Republican, but conservative-leaning organizations who protest (anything) are just a “mob”? Do I get that right?

The rioting union thugs in Wisconsin were ‘protesting’ in the eyes of the left, and they thought the death threats against Gov Walker were cute and funny.
But lawful peaceul protest that opposes their agenda is ‘terrorism’ because it throws a wrench into their plans.

There is an obvious connection. Somehow the Tea Party invaded the mind of the shooter. The set up was remote controlled from Alaska by Palin vis the Fox News mind net.

Exactly. The city is again borrowing millions to prop up their bankrupt NHL franchise, but the Tea Party are the crazy ones? I don’t think so.

The Goldwater Institute believes this transaction is illegal. From what I can understand, the powers that be in Glendale want the taxpayers to foot the bill to keep the Phoenix Coyotes here. Some Chicago mogul will get the payment. It really smells. But it’s Democrats doing the deal so I’m not surprised.

This battle for the Republic against the Progressives (Communists) rages on all fronts at all levels from city to state to national.

Exactly, the left is becoming unglued because they cannot see past 1 day. The asswipes have nothing to do with foundation or security. The mindless left have entertainment, that’s all.

Entertainment is their correct place in the scheme of things.

So don’t call them “protests”. Call them “gatherings”. Now, doesn’t that sound much nicer? How could ANY mayor refuse? ;o)

An ignorant Democrat is news?

The mayor is an idiot...whether or not she realizes it.

Isn't it sweet? I am so glad that the socialists pushed so hard and so quickly once in total power. They hugely miscalculated the backlash they were bringing on. They did better when they were just inching towards socialism/communism over the last decades, but they got greedy with the "hopey changey" thing.

I equate this to the prophetic words of Yamamoto, "...awakening a sleeping giant".

The mayor’s reaction is so nutty even most liberals will be able to see the nuttiness.
