Kurihara - population of 80,000. Not just some small fishing village.

And amazingly, Wikipedia already has that information.

As of 2008, the city had an estimated population of 77,012 and a population density of 95.7 persons per km². The total area is 804.93 km². Based upon data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, it is estimated the town of Kurihara has been completely destroyed.

Seeing the size of the waves that roared through, I’m surprised only one town was destroyed. That was horrendous!
I’ve had to move my box of tissues to the desk. I got tired of getting up to grab another tissue, time and time again. This is just so tragic.
