The aftershocks have been in the 6.5+ range — those by themselves would be devastating earthquakes anywhere.

Where did you hear that, scythian? I can’t find it on the internet, but have little doubt that it’s true.
The next couple of hours will be when the worst images will appear, I may suggest we keep image loading “conservative” as some of us are on dial-up, when too much or too many images are posted or duplicated I can barely navigate FR, just a suggestion.

Sadly and tragically, I agree those numbers are probably correct. I just hope for better.
There are now 4 ENTIRE TRAINS missing (per Shep on Fox). WHOLE TRAINS for Goodness’ sake!
I am a bit of a volcano buff as I am working on a novel about the 1902 Pelee eruption in Martinique that killed 35 to 40 thousand people. Several years ago I was looking at one of the volcano monitoring sites, for Alaska. They had, and I presume they still have, 24 hour seismic charts. It was interesting to see that after one strong earthquake you could see a spike in the seismograph traces, especially strong for the volcanoes nearest to the earthquake area. I don’t have time to look for this now, as I am expected at work, but perhaps someone can find it and post the link, I would not be surprised if we had a very severe volcano eruption soon, especially around our next full moon.

There is a black hole of news coming out of Hawaii, just a lot of nothing, I fear the internet and the MSM is under a censor, all to protect the tourism image.
I'm amazed in the era of Facebook and Twitter that govt could have that much power without shutting down cell phones and the net. AFAIK those are both functional.
There is sunrise in Japan now, lots of terrible footage, mounds and mounds of cars, some on fire.

I’m anxious for news of HI since I have quite a few friends there. Hard to find any news other than freepers from there posting what they see or hear locally.
