Oh yeah....I live right on Hilo Bay, less than ten feet above sea level. But it only takes about 3 minutes to get out of the historical flood plains.
I have many cherished church family members in L.A. for a church conference. Dear church family also on a missional trip to Costa Rica. Friends who live in Honolulu. Worried and praying for them all.

Thanks for the photos. Just saw an industrial area on fire on TV. Looked like a steel mill or smelter of some sort. Not where you woud want to be working. Also a refinery and tank farm burning.
Devastating .. mind boggling.

HONOLULU — A tsunami watch has been issued for the state of Hawaii as of 7:56 p.m. Thursday.
The advisory comes after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck at 7:46 p.m. Hawaii time near the east coast of Honshu, Japan, according to the Pacific Tsunami Center.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake’s magnitude at 8.8.
If tsunami waves impact Hawaii, the estimated earliest arrival would be at 2:59 a.m. Friday, the center said.
I can’t hear them up here, maybe a vague background hum - I could during the last warning when they came on about 6 a.m. - not sure why it’s not coming through now.
The warning Sirens just went off. Civil Defense guys are trying to alarm without being alarming. Whatever. Just picked up my son at the shopping center. He wants to go to his waterfront office and turn off the computers. Gas lines long, everybody buying everything at the store. Not alarming, it’s just what those of us conditioned to living on an isolated island do. It’s actually good that if it hits it will be in the early morning. Everybody at home and evacuated. It’s those poor people in Japan that I am praying for...
