They just officially raised it to a warning for Hawaii about 10 minutes ago. They’re still evaluating though as to how big it might be.

My brother is in Hawaii. On 17th floor of a hotel in Honolulu. Guess he’ll be OK. Told him to fill bathtub with fresh water...but no bathtub.

I figured they would wait until they started getting the buoy data in. It’s alive in the Pacific right now.
Saipan/Guam ridge area will really tell what this is going to be like.
If they get hit big, it’s gonna suck for the rest of the Pacific.
I’ve only felt one small trembler in my life and that was in the mid-60s. It freaked me out completely and I’ve never forgotten it.
I can’t imagine what y’all are going through right now with the ground shaking so much harder than I felt.

Local news reports people going out the the stores to stock up. It’s What We Do. My parents live in a highrise in Waikiki - if this gets upgraded to a Tsunami Watch they’re coming up to our house.

Massive earthquake off the coast of Japan. Magnitude 8.9.
I experienced one in Ohio. Years and years ago. My sis was in the hospital having a baby, we all thought the boiler had blown...til the nurses went screaming OUT of the hospital..it’s an earthquake!
