Omar Khadr is getting a formal education in prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to help allay fears he will return to Canada an angry and perhaps dangerous young man with a grudge against society, says his Canadian lawyer.

Khadr's defence team enlisted a Canadian university professor to design a home schooling program to prepare the 24-year-old, who was born in Toronto, for his return to Canada, says Dennis Edney.

Pentagon lawyers travel to the U.S. naval prison every other week to do the teaching.

“We provide them with the material, and then they go to Guantanamo and sit with Omar and they take him through the subject matter,” Edney explains.

The curriculum includes math, history and astronomy, and is heavy on English grammar.

I recall an article in The Jerusalem Post about young Palestinian men purposely getting themselves arrested for terrorist activities so they could take advantage of all the opportunities in the Israeli prison system.

I think I heard somewhere that some A-rab youngsters have been getting themselves sent to Gitmo for the similar reasons.

You mean he might return to Canada the same way he left?

What a joke. what a waste of money.

Shoot this a-hole and be done with it, a 35 cent bullet will solve his problem.

The Harper government has made it very clear that Canada does not want this vermin back.

LOL. The reason he has a grudge against society is because the Canadian education system encourages young people hating the traditional Canadian social system. The rebels are in charge now and are still trying to destroy what they now control.

I agree. Educating a terrorist results in nothing but an educated terrorist and creating a much more dangerous adversary.

Strategic idiocy. Eliminate the threat and be done with it.

You haven’t seen the interviews of his sister and mother... If he was raised by these two harpies, no wonder he is angry...
