Well, that link is not helpful to Robinson's credibility....

I know it’s WND. Can you think of a media outlet that would touch this story in Oregon?

There are few publications that I trust less than WND to tell an honest story.

Mr. Robinson sounds like a fruitcake.

Arthur Robinson, Ph.D., the 2010 Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Oregon's 4th congressional district, is a research professor of chemistry and co-founder of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine. After graduating from the California Institute of Technology in 1963 and earning his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego, he served as a UCSD faculty member until co-founding the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine with Linus Pauling in 1973. In 1981, Dr. Robinson, his wife, chemist Laurelee Robinson, physicist Martin Kamen, and later joined by Nobel-winning biochemist R. Bruce Merrifield, cofounded the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine.

In recent years, Dr. Robinson has also directed the Petition Project, which has obtained the support and signatures of more than 31,000 American scientists for a petition opposed – entirely on scientific grounds published in peer reviewed journals – to the hypothesis of "human-caused global warming."

Now, none of this proves that he isn't a whack o. The petition project tie-in is very interesting and reason to black list him and any who associate with him.

“all three of them could be caught blatantly using other people’s research.”

All research, including inventions, done by students at most universities, belongs to the university. Sad but true. I was driving in another state, and suddenly came upon a grade school, that I had designed as a Freshman project while studying Architecture at an Ohio university. I was never even notified that “my” design was in use! And I have no knowledge about how many were built.

When I graduated from U of O in 1966 it was the haven for the “bell, book & sandal” crowd whose grades were too poor to get into any school in their home state of California. The only place worse was Reed College in Portland.

Robinson is no doubt a bright enough guy. But if you look at the linked articles, and you look at his website ... the guy is a crank.

what a fabulous example of exactly WHY we need to get Government out of the Education Business

Send it on to David Horowitz newsrealblog and Brietbart’s “Bigs.” Horowitz wrote a book about these treacherous academics.

Did you read the full story?

Yes, I read the entire thing and he never stated what they were being expelled for.

The liberals no long hiding their hatred of America. Wisconsin is the prime example - the libtards are just simply attempting to nullify the election results in WI on
Nov 2, 2012. Cry, stomp around and raise heck, and flee their jobs until the voters that put the GOP in power in WI comes to “THEIR TERMS”. My little kids acted like that years ago (I didn't give in then either).

FIRE would be a great place to go for assistance and to punish the “university.”

You may think that Art is a crank, but his children are getting hurt. Expulsion from a Phd program is very serious and it could very well be career ending for those kids.

FIRE needs to get involved and needs to make the charges stick.

The key to fighting this and most any of this sort of outrage is to shine the brightest spotlight one can find on the perpetrators.

I gave OSU a lot of money for my daughter's degree. I hate the thought of these @sshats picking on students (doctoral or otherwise) for political payback.

Democrats - Thieves (politicians, Soros, Department heads), Thugs (unions, old media), Thralls (university students, black/latino voters) and Thickheads (college instructors, socialists). This is just Thickheads serving their masters, the Thieves.

Probably the best thing they can do is prevent others from stealing their work by creating a “poor man’s patent” on what they have created.

That is, fully document everything they have done, and send copies of their work and creations to experts in the field at other institutions, claiming it as completely their own creations, and that any other claims to their work *or* its derivatives should be seen as academic theft.

While that would have no legal force, as the institution likely holds the official patents, it would not matter, because any future claims to it would be compromised, and the individuals claiming it would be seen as disreputable.

The bottom line is that they will never get their post graduate degrees from this university, this much is clear. But by providing these materials to other institutions, it acts as both resume and portfolio of their abilities.

They may very likely then be picked up by other institutions to finish their degree work, and though they have been set back a year or more, theirs will be a much more worthy degree.

Couldn’t possibly be OSU huh?

You know perfectly well I didn't say that.

Perhaps I'm a more discriminating individual, but I don't take the word of someone I don't know if they're obviously withholding pertinent information.

Do you think the writer simply "forgot" to mention it?
