Wisconsin Senate Democrats say no date set for return

MADISON, Wisconsin (Reuters) – Wisconsin Democrats who fled the state more than two weeks ago to block a vote on a Republican plan to limit public union collective bargaining said on Sunday they have no immediate plans to return.

"I think the situation has not been resolved," said Mike Browne, a spokesman for Wisconsin senate minority leader Mark Miller, while adding: "I don't think anyone has ever suggested that at some point the Democrats don't return."

Browne and several of the 14 Democrats in the senate who left the state on February 17 sought to downplay comments by Miller to the Wall Street Journal on Sunday that Democrats will return to the Capitol soon for a vote on the Republican bill.

"I think he's speaking the truth that at some point - and I don't know when soon is - at some point we have to say we've done all we can," Senator Bob Jauch told Reuters.

Can they be recalled, or fired, or anything?

Remove their seats and desks and bar them from ever returning to the State... Seize all of their assets and give it to the homeless... Take all of their families and kick them out of the State also... charge them with Criminal charges so they may never return home... or hire Timothy Oliphant to deal with them. I am sick and tired of THAT GOVERNOR playing games... he has been called out and refuses to put up his dukes!

So somebody gets elected, decides to play hardball with the dems, and you're sick and tired of him already?

Sigh. There's just no pleasing some people.

16 Senators — 8 from each Party — are under recall notice right now. They cannot be recalled until they have been in office for 1 year after their last election. 16 represents all the Senators eligible for recall.

It’s insane to waste so much money if they succeed in raising the requisite number of signatures. (25% of the number of votes cast in each Senator’s District in the last Gubenatorial election — Nov. 2010).

The Republicans should start passing bills without their leftest counterparts — English as the official language of Wisconsin, measures against illegal aliens, etc. Use this as an opportunity to get some legislation passed and tweak those SOBs.

All that he has done so far is bark and draw a line in the sand... retreat and draw another line. Some people are too easily pleased with intentions and no results. He has not accomplished anything... and the longer it goes on... the higher the polls go for the leftist marxist thugs. Enjoy!

What has he accomplished? Has he forced the return of the traitors from the Senate? Did he stop the damage to the Capital? Has he helped the legislature pass “Right to Work” legislation? Has he done anything that the Rat party would be doing if these rolls were reversed? No, he looks weak and ineffective and every poll shows that he is losing ground, the longer he allows this to drag out. The teachers and the unions control Wisconsin... that is how this looks to America.

The Republicans should trump the Democrats cards. They should strip the Bill of the Collective Bargaining restraints and get the Dems to vote on the budget bill therefore meeting the quorum requirements. Then immediately afterwards submit a bill that deals with only the Collective Bargaining restratints which would not need the Dems participation because no quorum is needed.

The longer this goes on the worse it is for all involved.

Thank you! This is what I am talking about... and because I dare say it... I am attacked on this thread. The Governor is allowing the enemy to control the battlefield... they are winning no matter how those here try to spin it. Where is the REAL LEADERSHIP... and RESULTS?

I think we need more muscular penalties: $1000/day fines and fines for all groups and persons that aid and abet the fleebaggers.

How hard would it be to hire a bounty hunter to collect one or two? It’s not like they are hiding.

Drop the captured member off in their Senate and *POOF*, you have a quorum. Willingness to be there is not an issue.

Don’t some of these guys have second jobs (e.g. realtor, small business, law office)? In many states, the state senator job is not particularly well-paying. The base in in WI is about $50,000. That may not be enough for the life-style some of these folks live.
