Homicide case involving Daley nephew closed without charges

For the first time, the Chicago Police said Friday they know who hit David Koschman and knocked him to the ground in a drunken confrontation in the Rush Street area, leading to his death from a brain injury 11 days later — but they’re not telling.

Chicago Police Officer Mike Shields will be the new president of Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police, he is currently a trustee of the police officers’ pension fund. In a recent controversial decision, Shields joined three other board members in voting to allow disgraced former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge to collect his pension.
Burge was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for lying about the torture and abuse of criminal suspects decades earlier.

One group of drunks passes another group of drunks on Rush Street, and a hot headed drunken little guy deliberately slams into a guy in Daley’s nephew’s group, knocking his glasses off. Angry words are exchanged and one punch is thrown. Little guy falls down, hits his head on the curb and later dies. By all accounts, the little guy started it, escalated the confrontation and refused to end it and walk away. Everybody in the Daley group is put in a lineup, including the Daley nephew- who has recently shaved his head. No one in the dead kid’s posse can identify Daley’s nephew or any of the other guys as the one who threw the punch. So what are the cops or States Attorney supposed to do? Arrest the Daley nephew on a charge they have almost no chance of proving. Come on. Everybody was drunk. The little guy started it. Only a single punch was thrown and the guy died from hitting his head on the curb.
Gee the homicide of Donald Young, boyfriend of Obama, a case from way back in 2007, hasn’t been “solved” either. It IS good to be KING! Why you can hide almost any crime(usurping) if you are king.

The case files are now missing from the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, which Daley used to run, and which was run by his longtime friend Dick Devine at the time of incident.
The state’s attorney’s office won’t identify the prosecutor who recommended not filing charges in the case.

Now, a witness to the incident has come forward after the Sun-Times ran the first part of their story Monday to say that the prosecutors’ contention Koschman was the aggressor was “a flat-out lie.” Michael Connolly was previously interviewed by the Police Department in the case. He said he and a friend were near the scene of the altercation on Division Street.

“They declined charges, but they can’t find the file?” Richard said Kling, a criminal defense attorney and college law professor. “I’ve been doing this for 39 years, literally thousands of cases. I’ve never seen a felony-review file missing. Ever. Never heard of one.”
“There’s certainly some red flags,” Kling said. “Like not investigating the case earlier, a missing felony-review file, transferring the case from one area to another and not having lineups until a month later.”

The little guy did start the fight. He deliberately bumped into another guy knocking his glasses off.
