Here's some news to make your skin crawl: Bedbug infestations will explode this year, particularly in the summer, experts say.
Once you've got bedbugs, it can cost $1,200 to get rid of them professionally, White said.
"The big problem is not getting bit, it's bringing them home," .

The turd worlding of America rages on!
Bring back DDT
I’ll bet money they’re in the white hut....
(and bedbugs, too.)
See http://www.conservapedia.com/Bedbug for a more thorough info than WP. And DDT is not the answer.
My mom remembers bedbugs. I think they use to put kerosene at the bottom of the bed posts to keep the bed bugs out. Every night when I was little mom would always say, “good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
Sliding, sliding into the Third World.
OTOH, have you read “Exterminator” by William Burroughs?
I now live in a third world country, but have never experienced bed bugs, but I hear that they have become quite the celebrities in the hotels and motels all over the states.
Are they attributed to all the illegals that are flooding the country?
I hear that “Cedarcide” is the best cure, but that may just be hype.
I guess that old children’s phrase, “Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.” now has real meaning.
I do, however, agree that America is becoming a “TURD” world.
I am also happy that I left long before the morons elected
a prime turd for POTUS.
Read the article again, replacing “bedbugs” with “illegal aliens” and a certain coherency emerges.
An older neighbor lady of mine was telling me what it was like to live in Arizona in the 1940s. She said they used to sleep outside in summertime, in a sleeping porch. There were no mosquitos here then, unlike now... all the golf courses and the Tempe Town Lake have bred mosquitos like crazy. But her father would pour kerosene into empty tuna cans and then set each bedpost into a can. This wasn’t for bedbugs... it was to keep the scorpions from crawling up into the bed.
That is an attractive theory, and is part of the problem, with a radipdly increasing number of people, but there are a number of factors involved, from increased travel to outlawing insecticides, not without reason. But you cannot even buy sulfur candles for use in residential dwellings in the US which seemed to be quite effective years ago.
Apartment bldgs are far more difficult than homes, and sometimes all one can do is pray in Christ.
It’s why I always bang my shoes upside down before
putting my foot into them, a habit from Nam.
centipedes ~~~~~~~~~~*
YIKES, yea now that you mention the cans filled with kerosene I believe that’s what grandma said they did. I couldn’t remember how they put the kerosene on the bed posts. I was pretty sure it wasn’t right on the metal.
After a grand for 3 treatments I was still scared to bring the bedbugs home. I disrobed in the driveway to naked on a 20 degree night and trashed the clothes for safety. My wife and kid wouldn't go near them and we are the cheapest people you will meet. That was worse than the hazing I got pledging a fraternity. Next time I will just torch the building. God bless the hard working immigrants.
we're Americans.....we've survived world wars, civil war, tornados, hurricanes, floods, depressions and recessions, despots and dictators, and I suspect we'll get thru whatever we have too...
you see, some of us are still PROUD to be AMERICANS!
...or are these bedbugs from some foreign country, brought in by immigrants?

I’m not sure if it was bedbugs or not, but my mom and dad had a furnished apartment in Brooklyn while dad was training for WWII. The place had some sort of bugs. So on one of the coldest days (just before Christmas) they pulled EVERYTHING out onto the sidewalk (furniture, rugs, linens - everything) to freeze them out.
Then they spent the day cleaning inside with the windows open in hopes of freezing anything else out. The landlady came by and was in an uproar. My mom told her it was an old Norwegian custom to do a big cleaning just before Christmas! The landlady looked at her funny and said “Oh!”
It worked too!
