Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu will present a new Mideast peace initiative at the AIPAC convention in May in the US. A senior diplomatic source in Jerusalem said the plan focuses on the recognition of a Palestinian state within temporary borders and security arrangements for Israel.

The source said the plan offers the easing of restrictions on the Palestinians but with an emphasis on Israel's intention to continue construction in the large settlement blocks and in Jerusalem.

Sources in Jerusalem say that Israel has indicated to the quartet that regarding the peace process with the Palestinians, it prefers the Jerusalem Washington channel and is now working at a number of levels to prevent unilateral actions by the quartet.

Oh boy, that sounds serious.

Peace through Strength, not through surrender. Rabin was a traitor for bringing Arafat in. Since his death, Israelis should have been working to erase all the evil he did with Oslo. Instead, they remain fixed to its ‘Judenrein’ aims. BIG mistake. Stand firm, Bibi. The Congress stands with you, even if America’s First Imam stands with your enemies.

It is. Extremely so.

What that “Imam” and his SS in the WH has done with his pressuring, threats and blackmailing of Israel, has helped orchestrate, (with the UN, EU and arab nations), and sign the death warrant for the State Israel and every Jew living there. The minute the Muslims get a state within Israel, they will butcher every Jew they can, and try to take the country over.

All of this was predicted in the Jewish prophecies of the Holy Niviim, the Zohar, the Tehillim, Midrashim, Gemarah and many other Jewish scriptures.

The ancient Jewish prophets also told us what happens from there........

First of all, whatever Israel’s chosen path, I support it. That’s a blanket general principle’s statement, that could be nullified due to an extremely bad policy, but that should be understood.

Right now the Middle-East is a roiling piece of real-estate from Syria and Libya down to Yemen and across to Tunisia. Who is Netanyahu planning to make peace with? Is it the older leaders, is it the prospective new leaders?

If someone agrees to peace with Israel, isn’t that the regional kiss of death?

Okay, the older leadership contemplates the new peace plan. As they do, they contemplate deciding to exercise generosity toward Israel. And if they chose this route, they are instantly cast as an old out of touch leadership, needing desperately to be replaced. If they are, Israel loses. Now if they don’t decide to support Israel and develop a harder line, Israel loses. And if perhaps this individual is replaced, the non-support of Israel will be the starting point for the new leadership, and it goes downhill from there.

New prospective leaders will not be able to come down favorably on this plan. It will alienate them, because they’ll have to oppose it publicly to gain support. If they were to support the new Israeli peace plan, they’d be out as a viable candidate to lead.

I don’t think Netanyahu seems to understand what dynamics a new peace plan would set up. He is probably trying to get out front of regional changes, with new contacts and a better chance for peace.

To my way of thinking, his efforts will result in exactly the opposite. Old leaders will have to become more hard line. New prospective leaders will have to do the same.

There are times when it’s best to be the fly on the wall, not the center of attention when you’re already despised by anyone who is going to hear this new offer.

I don’t have the slightest idea what thought process has led him to think this is the perfect time for a new peace initiative, but I think he’s mistaken in his efforts.

waste of time...you can’t negotiate with terrorists or extremists. Israel has already bent over backwards in attempts to live in peace. Time to nuke Iran and use strength...maybe they will understand the consequences

I guess part of the plan is to cut the Palis off at the pass by defining a less harmful Peace before they do. Also, we can assume the current administration is urging Israel to give in.

In today's WSJ article, "Israel Considers Military 'Upgrade,'" I found the following hint of Obama's approach to Israel despite the current Mideast instability:

"With the Obama Administration pressing Israel and the Palestinians to resume talks that broke off in September, Mr. Barak said Israel could not seek pledges of additional military aid without making a "daring" peace offer.

Israeli officials are debating elements of a peace initiative, he said, and PM Netanyahu is expected to announce one soon."
